Hon Tim Wanyonyi to fly the ODM flag in Nairobi governorship in 2022

The second time MP for Westlands Hon Tim Wanyonyi has fixed his eyes on becoming the third governor for Nairobi in 2022.

The former Nairobi councillor and now Westlands Mp is however aware of the daunting task ahead of him.

Yesterday Monday 4th, a group calling itself Nairobi Luhya council of elders that brings together city opinion leaders drawn from the larger luhya nation hosted the Mp at Lavington primary school where they pledged to support Hon Wanyonyi’s candidature.

Drawn from Dagoretti North and South constituencies, the over 500 opinion leaders unanimously agreed to support Tim Wanyonyi as the sole luhya candidate for the city job.

We have gathered here as Mulembe sons and daughters to urge you on in your quest for the top job. As your brothers and sisters in the city, we are so pleased with the great work you are doing in Westlands and therefore endorse you for the top county job. Nairobi will be in safe hands under your leadership” Bonni Shititi a convenor from Dagoretti North said.

On his part, Mpapale who is the convenor from Dagoretti south had this to say.

We voted for Kidero in 2013, it is about time we made use of our numbers in the city and propel Tim to the top county job. We have over 800 000 luhyas dwelling in the city and if we can pull together, there is no doubt that Tim will be our governor. Iam however not saying that we dont need votes from other Kenyans but what Iam saying is that as Tim’s brothers and sisters, we shall be at the forefront in supporting him” added Mpapale.

Will Tim Clinch the ODM party ticket?
During the closed door meeting, the issue of party came up and some doubted if indeed the ODM party will give Wanyonyi the ticket.

With some telling Tim to consider other options like ANC or Ford Kenya, when Hon Wanyonyi spoke he firmly stated that ODM was his vehicle of choice.

We are not guests in ODM, we are equal partners. As people from Mulembe nation we have a stake in this party and we should therefore not shy away from seeking leadership positions on ODM. I have personally been nurtured by this party and will continue excercising my democratic right under ODM” said Tim amid chants of chungwa ! Chungwa!

While accepting the support and kind words from the gathering, Hon Tim Wanyonyi urged all who had gathered to go out there and encourage those who have not registered as voters to take advantage of the 30 days window by IEBC voter registration and enroll as voters.

We cannot sit and wait for others to decide for us. We should go out and tell our people to register as voters. Our strength here in the city lies not only in our numbers but in our ability to get voters cards and put our votes in one basket. As you plan to vote for me as your next governor, also vote for ODM candidates in all the seats. We have all seen our party leader receive support across Kenya and you should all rally behind him come 2022″ added Hon Wanyonyi.

Other than the Westlands Mp, others who have declared interest in the seat include Hon Aladwa Mp Makadara and business mogul Mrs Kagure.

However Hon Tim Wanyonyi has exuded confidence that he will clinch the party ticket.

My brothers and siaters, thank you for your endorsement, as they say, charity begins at home, I want you not to have any aota of doubt in so far as my clinching the ODM ticket is concerned. All you need to do is to go out and sell my name to all your friends in Nairobi. We shall deliver this seat” concluded Hon Wanyonyi
