Rift Valley Deputy Regional Commissioner Francis Boit has died, his family has confirmed to www.goodmorningKenya.com

Boit died on Wednesday evening (October 14) while being taken to hospital after developing health complications at his Nakuru Town home.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that Boit succumbed to coronavirus-related complications.

Nakuru Town East Deputy County Commissioner, Eric Wanyonyi, said Friday that they have formed a multi-agency team comprising chiefs, Nyumba Kumi Initiative officials and health officials to crack the whip on residents flouting COVID-19 safety rules.

On Thursday, October 15, Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui urged locals to observe the COVID-19 prevention measures put in place by the Ministry of Health to avert further spread of coronavirus in the county.

Kinyanjui said at least 20 people in Nakuru County are under oxygen support at the Nakuru Referral Hospital.

As of October 14, 2020, Nakuru County had recorded 1,670 COVID-19 cases, behind Nairobi (21,835), Mombasa (3,328), Kiambu (2,883) and Kajiado (2,020).
