Ssemi Aina: Luhyas should rally behind Mudavadi to give him a better chance of succeeding Uhuru

Former Afc leopards chairman and former Kakamega county senatorial aspirant Bwana Ssemi Aina has weighed in on the ongoing luhya unity debate.

Speaking to Goodmorning Kenya, Hon. Aina has decried the inability of Mulembe nation leaders to rally behind the single most unifying factor which is Afc leopards soccer club.

At the same time, Aina has lauded Anc party leader for donating 633,000KSH to enable the oldest club process a title deed for a piece of land in Nairobi.

” Afc leopards is the single most uniting factor among the Luhya sub clans. Past leaders like Mzee Opembe, Mudamba Mudavadi, Osogo and Mwangale knew this and always had a special place for Ingwe.

When we left non luhyas to start dictating proceedings at Afc, that is when we started experiencing this disintergration of our community. In 2011 I saw this and stepped up to try and rectify it” Aina said.

‘Whereas Luos were uniting around gor mahia, we left our heritage which has turned around to manifest in our disunity even on how we make political descisions” added Aina.

Commenting on the rift in Ford Kenya, Aina lamented at how low we have stooped as a community by instead of fighting for the national cake, we are engaging in in-house squables.

“Ford Kenya and Anc had a life time chance to pull together when we were looking for a Nasa presidential flag bearer. Considering that both Anc and Ford Kenya had candidates, pulling together would have given Wetangula or Mudavadi the ticket but the selfishness of our leaders denied us the ticket” Aina observed.

The Kakamega politician has called on Hon. Mudavadi and Hon. Wetangula to lead the community and their respective parties into a united front.

“As a community we gave the mantle to Hon. Mudavadi as our community spokesman, we must rally behind him to give him the strength needed as he marches on.

If you have an elder son in highschool and he did not get the best grades in his mid exam, do you stop supporting his education in-favor of a younger brother who is barely past kindergarten?” Wondered Aina.

While urging all luhyas to rally behind Mudavadi, Aina said that Mudavadi was the senior-most Luhya politician who should be supported by all means necessary to take over the mantle from Uhuru.

On Kakamega politics, Aina said he is the Kakamega county senator in waiting after Hon Malala absconded duty.

“I am the Kakamega Senator in waiting and I am busy serving my people. Hon. Malala abdicated duty and since nature abhors a vacuum I am fully serving my people.

Hon Malala was given the honor by our people to represent them but instead he chose to go and fight Hon. Mudavadi. You all remember when we were campaigning in Kibra, you all heard Malala call himself Anc party owner. Who does that?” quiped Aina.

In 2017 Ssemi Aina contested the Kakamega senatorial seat and came third behind Malala and Seth Panyako in an election that Panyako appealed citing massive vote rigging by Malala.

Ssemi Aina chose not to appeal and has kept serving the people of Kakamega through Ssemi Aina soccer tournaments which runs in all the Kakamega county wards.
