AFC Leopards Secretary General Mr.Olyver Sikuku promises a brand new & ruthless Ingwe.

“Ingwe leadership owes it to our fans to deliver an Ingwe that will make all happy as it ruthlessly claws its opponents, this is what we are set to deliver moving foward” AFC leopards SG, Olyver Sikuku.

Dr Dan Shikanda, Olyver Sikuku and Morris Chichi were elected into office last year in a peaceful election during AFC’ s annual general meeting at Kasarani. This election marked a departure from the past where 10 officials were elected into office and instead this time only 3 were elected.

From 10 Officials to only 3.

Of the three current Ingwe officials, only Mr Sikuku the SG has the prestige of having served in the last regime of 10 members.

“Having a lean team at the management level makes it easy in terms of day to day running of the club. With myself as SG , Shikanda and Chichi, reaching a decision is faster compared to the old days where you needed to have the consensus of an entire team. The back and forth in seeking consensus used to consume valuable time unlike now where we have always agreed on issues. This lean approach is workable and even our arch rivals Gor Mahia have copied it. Soon they are moving from a 12 Member NEC to 4” said the Sg.

State of the den.

According to the SG, AFC leopards has made strides that guarantees a bright future.Club membership registration has been ongoing and the numbers of those signing up are very promising. The club has also intensified its mode of communication and at least twice a week the club engages its fans.

“On communication, we have tried our best to depart from the past culture and we have ensured that our media handles, AFC TV, Youtube and FB & Twitter handles pass up to date information about activities and news in the den. AFC has a strategic plan that captures its aspirations while ensuring the tradition of the club is not eroded.” adds the SG.

Playing unit

Despite the halt and the subsequent premature ending of the league, the SG remains upbeat that AFC was within its scope of ending the league in top 3 position.

“Despite the teething challenges we had when we assumed office, our projections were to finish the league in top 3 if not winning it. We eventually ended at position six despite the controversies and effects of Covid 19. Our boys were in the right mood to even challenge for the title. This is one thing that we intend to ride on as we embark on the 2020/2021 season. Anybody thinking that AFC will be a push over, better think again” adds Mr Sikuku.

Afc leopards boasts of the second meanest defence after Ulinzi.

“We have a good squad, our defense is amongest the best, our young squad boasting of Marvin Nabwire who is now fully recovered, Omar Bwana, Sunguti, Musamali and Oburu are all upbeat and raring to go” Sikuku added.

Who is likely to join the den when the window opens?”

‘” The task of hunting for goals still rests on Rupia Elvis, the lad was having a good time until Covid 19 struck. The technical department had shown interest in the Western Stima goal poacher Omala but Covid 19 has thrown things into disaray. We cannot have him since schools will still be on next year. However the coaching staff has a free hand in as far as playing unit is concerned. The management as a policy has chosen not to interfere with the recruitment process” Sikuku.

We further asked him if Duncan Otieno and Shakava are joining Afc but he remained non committal.

I don’t want to say whether Duncan Otieno and Or Shakava are joining the den. The window is yet to open but we shall let you know of any development Sikuku.

Members , partners and fans are an integral part of AFC leopards.

The club SG has also hailed the efforts by the club members under the then C.O.C Gilbert Andugu for standing by the club at the hour of need. He salutes each and every well meaning fan for the support.

We enjoyed the good rapport with our members under Mr Andugu Gilbert of the Joint Branch Committee what many call Chairman of Chairmen C.o.C. We look foward to working closely with the new guy at the helm Mr Kuka Imbenzi.” said Sikuku.

Political stability in the den.

Mr Sikuku attributes the calmness in the den to a lean office that operates without factions. The trio are seen as the truly elected officials and are therefore answerable to members. The calm has also attracted former players like Peter Lichungu, Masiga, Toni Lidonde, Amwayi to troop back and offer motivation and capacity whenever they are called upon.

“We have deliberately made club legends part and parcel of Ingwe. Whenever we are signing a new player, we ensure they interact with our legends just to make them feel the glory of donning an Ingwe shirt” adds Mr Sikuku.

Parting shot.

“Covid 19 pandemic halted our march, but this is something the club is still fixed on. With the coming onboard of new sponsors, setting up of a merchandise shop in town and a hungry playing unit, AFC s moment of glory is just around the corner.

Sikuku concludes.
