We are demonstrating against Ruto’s failed leadership not the Cherera 4 says Korogocho MCA Matach.

“The planned demonstrations by Azimio is not about the suspension of the four Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission ((IEBC) commissioners but about poor governance by the President William Ruto administration,” Korogocho ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Absalom Odhiambo aka Matach has clarified.

Matach said the demonstrations are geared at protesting the poor living standards and unfulfilled pre-election promises by Ruto which are adversely affecting Kenyans.

“The issue of the four suspended commissioners is just part of the grievances that we are protesting against,” he said. The first time MCA said Ruto promised to reduce food prices but has instead sky-rocketed an issue which is making many more Kenyans sleep hungry because they are not able to afford basics.

He said the recently launched hustler fund will not meet Kenyans’ expectations as Ruto had promised to give loans without paying interest but has rescinded his promise.

“There’s nothing revolutionary about the Hustler fund; there’s Fuliza and other digital credit providers,” he says How can you get a loan with interest of 8% and you are a hustler? he asked.

During the electoral campaigns, Ruto had promised that the fund would be free, but after winning the presidency, he seems to have changed his tune.

Matach said the Ruto administration is making education unaffordable by increasing school fees by 35 % which is unacceptable.

He said during the planned demonstrations the Azimio party leader Raila Odinga will reveal more excesses by the Ruto-led government and asked Kenyans to stand up and be counted by attending the planned rallies.

“Raila was focused and had a vision for Kenya through his manifesto where he intended to give Ksh6,000 social welfare stipend to jobless Kenyans and provision of free education from primary school to university/college level.
