A section of luhya leaders from Kibra constituency have thrown their weight behind the embattled Kakamega senator Hon Malala and Anc’s nominated Mp Hon Osotsi.
Led by Robert Kiberenge and Godfrey Ambunya the leaders termed the constant harassment of the two leaders as an affluence to luhya unity and youthful leadership.
“We want to be told in no uncertain terms why Anc as a party has made it a habit to be engaging in confrontational brand of politics especially on the two leaders” Kiberenge demanded.
“We are approaching 2022 and if indeed Mudavadi is seriously thinking of gunning for presidency , he should not purport to be expelling people from the party.
Hon Osotsi and Hon Malala have been steadfast in their support for the Nasa coalition and luhya development agenda.
How then can Mudavadi claim to be in full support of Luhya unity yet he is expelling the very luhyas he is supposed to protect,,? Where will he get seasoned, youthful leaders of Malala and Osotsi calibre to support his agenda in 2022?” Wondered Kiberenge.
Mr Obunya on his part said that it is a high time Mudavadi came out openly on his 2022 agenda.
“We are tired of being traded in as a community. Mudavadi formed Nasa and led Raila’s campaign. What crime has Malala and Osotsi committed by relating with Odm leaders? Is it only a crime when Osotsi and Malala are seen with Gov Oparanya himself a luhya leader but okey when Hon Tindi Mwale,Khamala, Murunga dine with Ruto? What kind of message is he sending out?” Obunya asked.
Early last month Hon Osotsi while addressing the media said that Anc’s nec term of office had come to an end. This did not go down well with the leadership of the party which hurriedly convened an NGC albeit unprocedurally and expelled Malala from the party.
If Anc completes the expulsion process, Kakamega county may be forced into a by election.
However this remains an uphill task since the party’s attempt to have Hon Osotsi (considered a rebel) expelled and recalled from the national assembly hit a snag.
“We know Malala and Osotsi are being targeted after they failed to toe the Sugoi line. This blackmail will not suffice. We challenge Anc to recall Malala from the senate and we the Kibra Luhyas will troop to Kakamega and ensure Senator Malala recaptures the seat” said Kiberenge
