Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja revealed that the popular and award winning Disc Jockey, DJ Rimshot, is among the entertainers who will grace the inaugural Nairobi Festival.

For those who love mixes, DJ Rimshot is not a new name. This is a man who has done so many music mixes, to any gospel genre that you would be forgiven to think he was born just to do that.

“Í want to thank the convener and brainchild of the Nairobi Festival Governor Johnson Sakaja for inviting me to perform. I will not disappoint the Governor nor the Nairobians who will attend with my show. I will put up a master class performance as an early Christmas package to the great people of Nairobi,” he said.

The week-long festival, which started on Monday, December 12, was announced in September as a fun-filled fair to be held every December to display and celebrate the “vibe of the city”.

“It’s about the vibe, the people, our culture, it’s about the positioning and how to sell to the world. From December 12 to 17, and every year, we are going to be coming together to showcase who we are,” Governor Sakaja said.

It will be held after the December 12 Jamhuri Day celebrations, bringing together food, the arts, matatu art awards, as well as exhibitions on designated city streets.

Media personality Shaffie Weru, who is the lead organiser of the festival told Kenyaonlinenews.com :”We have over 50 signed artists who will be on stage across the week. Our main acts will be on stage from Friday, December 16 and also on Saturday,” he added. “We have over 35 DJs, from the city. We have given priority to the people from Nairobi city only.”

Shaffie said that some of the hosts are from the comedy fraternity adding that comedy will also be featured in the festival.

Shaffie added that being the first ever festival organised by the county government, a lot has been put in place to attract both local and international fans.

“We assure you this is a first and we expect a lot to happen, we expect big numbers. I can tell everyone in Nairobi to come and enjoy. It is going to be what you see in other big concerts brought to you by the county for absolutely nothing.”
