Who is in who is out: Vihiga political tournament draws near as candidates position themselves.

From tiny seat to middle seat to big seat, opponents are canvassing, traversing quite county either to popularise or make their presence known.

All politicians are positioning themselves ahead of 2022. Names are popping up like mushroom for each ward seat, Wrep seat, Mp seat, Senator seat and Governor’s seat. It’s a gigantic battle for some seats, time for transition as some leaders have served two terms and others are judged for first term performance.

At this moment you can’t tell how political units will patch up and solidify. Some politicians are busy staging projects all over to woo voters to their side. From parading mud houses, distributing cheap face masks, distributing chickens, attending funerals, loudly making statements, for these politicians, everything counts. Politicians are competing for attention.

The truth is, Vihiga politics is not dynamic. It is patterned. It’s not fluid, it’s corrosive. 2022 electioneering moment will distinguish boys from men and girls from women. Cases in point, at the ward level, it’s for anyone’s taking, battle is there.

For Women Rep, Beatrice Adagala has not seen opponents, there is no opponent going by names mushrooming on social media. Looking at these names, Jackline Mwenesi will not put any dent in Adagala’s political universe. She ridiculously hangs on Jubilee’s ropes hoping to nub the county seat from Adagala. Will she achieve it? Unless miracles happen.

Another busy candidate is Hon. Bagada. To many folks, she sounds good while quite. But give her a microphone, she definitely leaves you lost in wilderness, finding your way home. You will not understand beginning of her message & the end. She is a good teacher but for politics it’s highly doubted if she can overspeed against Hon. Adagala.

Another candidate that will not cause harm or force Adagala to postpone her political sleep is Kevina Oriedo. Her political career has never taken off and there are no signs that it will take off soon unless she does something dramatic less of social media melodrama that she is used to.

The events on the ground are telling a different story. She is respected for academic prowess but how her teaching experience will translate to shrewdness that can take on Hon. Adagala is a subject that needs Havard mathematical genius & graduation. For her, school work still needs her more than politics.

For Mp seats, Sabatia is still empty now that Hon. Agoi is gravitating towards Governor’s race. The people of Sabatia constituency are yet to know who will fill and fit in shoes of outgoing Mp. Some names have been floated around, but you can’t accord them attention yet because their cvs are not here nor there. For lack of better description they are still in their politicaldiapers.

Hamisi constituency might need a replacement but looking at the politics of Gimose, he seems to have arrived home. He understands his chase. He is here and moving out is a dream. Luanda and Emuhaya constituencies are intact no discussion there yet. No worthy opponents to write about. The two leaders, Chris Omulele & Omboko Milemba are heavy weights who will knock any opponent without sweat.

Vihiga constituency has no new candidate, rumours were high that former Mp Mr. Chanzu will make a come back, but as time draws near those rumors are fading by. Kagesi is still in the race and to unseat him, you need a bulldozer considering his intimidating size. He has no competitor, anyone considering to stop him, should do his homework right.

The battle is at Senatorship. Vihiga voters are tired with incumbency. There are many options and possible replacements but again it’s a huge task, considering the tricky character of the incumbent. At this moment you don’t know where his bearing is facing or heading to.

You can’t tell if he is surely going for governorship or he will defend his seat. They say still water run deep. George Khaniri runs deep. You can’t write him off or overrule him, he understands vihiga politics considering his long tenure at the apex of power.

But reports on ground indicate that leaves are no longer green for him, because you can’t tell if he is Luminous green or Orange no orange. A water melon position he projects & protect. Do we have any other dreamer to replace him, they mention nominated Mp Godfrey Ososti.

They say he is dreaming and angling towards Vihiga senatorial race or to become deputy governor for the outgoing senator. This proposition has many factors. We will not dwell on it but when time is right, we will expound & expouse on it. There are many other candidates who might want to run for Vihiga senator.

At the cream dela cream of Vihiga politics is the battle for governorship. This is where the battle will be. One, it will be ANC vs ODM. Then Hon. Agoi vs others against Ottichillo. The incumbent has not performed based on expectations. He was voted to replace Akaranga who people thought had failed.

Today vihiga voters think Akaranga never failed, Ottichillo has failed beyond Akaranga. People want him to go home like now. He has failed to inspire development, project the county above a variety of averages and provide much needed leadership.

Vihiga has not changed since Akaranga left, in fact it has lost steam. That’s why locals are looking for an alternative. ANC is looking for the seat by all means possible. It’s the birth place of Hon. Musalia who is keen to run for presidency and he will not allow another party to win unless it is ANC.

Who is better placed to take over from Ottichillo? The answer that comes to mind is none other than Hon. Agoi. Hon. Agoi is skilled. He is sober. He is inspiring and convincing. Unless otherwise, he will beat Ottichillo hands down. If he gets a good deputy governor who will complement him, the governorship is his.
