Milton Lucheri to deputize Margaret Wanjiru in the forthcoming Nairobi gubernatorial race.

Following the vacancy at the Nairobi county government  occasioned by the impeachment of Governor Sonko, many candidates have come forth to declare their interest in the seat.

Former Starehe Mp and preacher of the word of God Dr. Margaret Wanjiru has declared her intentions and this declaration has elicited excitement across social circles. Her bid has been boosted by one youthful politician who has stepped forward to deputize the seasoned city politician and preacher of the word of God. His name is Milton Lucheri.

Hon. Wanjiru

www.goodmoriningKenya.com caught up with Milton and posed the question.

Who is Milton Lucheri?

‘’ I am a young Kenyan who traces my ancestral roots but stays here in the city. I schooled at  Chemulu Primary school in Nandi county before joining Moi forces Academy here in Nairobi. After my KCSE I proceeded to Kenyatta University where my skills in leadership were honed through student leadership. Upon my graduation in International relations and with an undergraduate in Finance, I plunged into building the nation in several spheres but politics was always in my blood hence my decision to vie for MP in Westlands on Jubilee ticket in 2017. I have also actively engaged in Jubilee politics as the Sg of Uhuruto movement a team that drummed up support for the president in the two elections of 2017’’ narrated Lucheri.

Bishop Margaret Wanjiru/ Milton Lucheri for Nairobi governor.

Mr. Lucheri believes as  Bishop Wanjiru’s running mate, the city’s will experience growth and tranquility since the pair does not subscribe to populist kind of politics and sideshows.

‘’For some time now, Nairobian’s have been treated to drama and sideshows at the expense of service delivery. This is one thing that we want to bring an end to. Nairobians are yearning for services because they pay tax which must be utilized in service delivery’’ Lucheri says.

His choice to deputize Dr. Wanjiru has raised several questions from several quarters but Lucheri remains steadfast with a firm belief that the pair shall deliver victory and serve Nairobians well.

‘’Bishop Wanjiru is not new to city politics, her record both as a woman of faith serving one of the largest congregation speaks volumes. Her service as an assistant minister for housing during Kibaki’s administration speaks for itself. When you blend Dr. Wanjiru’s experience with my energy and youthfulness, Nairobi will never be the same again. I am bringing new energy into the governance of the city hall which should excite the youths. It is about time that the youth came on the decision-making table, after all, 75 percent of the population is youthful’’ added Lucheri

Will Lucheri’s candidature excite the Luhyas in Nairobi?

The Luhya tribe commands the second largest number of registered voters in the city after the Kikuyu community. Many pundits opine that any right combination between Kikuyus and Luhyas in the forthcoming by election is likely to win.

’’ Our choice to deputize Bishop Wanjiru is informed by numbers. Elections are determined by numbers and this time around, the Mulembe nation is ready to be on the table when matter to do with city politics is concerned. We only boast of only two leaders in elective politics Hon Aladwa and Hon Wanyonyi. We deserve more numbers in city leadership and that is why I am urging my community to rally behind Wanjiru/ Lucheri ticket’’ says Lucheri

‘’Our candidature in this election is negotiated and our people stand to reap the benefits big time and that is why I want my brothers to fully rally behind us as we march to the finish line’’ added Lucheri.

You support DP Ruto for the presidency in 2022, don’t you think that it will impede on your ambitions to win in the forthcoming election since many of the Luhya voters gravitate towards Mudavadi presidency? We asked.

‘’My choice to align myself with Deputy president Dr. Ruto is informed by the democratic space in this country. I have immense respect for both Hon Mudavadi and Hon Wetangula as my community leaders. In 2022, the Dp is ahead of the pack and it is imperative that we work with him for the betterment of our nation’’  answered Lucheri.

 Sonko’s  ouster?

Mr. Lucheri opines that Sonko’s unceremonious exit from city hall was not the best thing. He believes that Sonko with all his weaknesses had done some work and with support, he would have moved even further.

‘’The first governor Dr. Kidero worked hard to put systems in place. Sonko did some work and our bid and when we win it we intend to ride on the goodwill that is in place to help improve the city status and deliver services to Nairobians’’ says Lucheri

We still have time to make BBI document better….

Mr. Lucheri maintains just like his mentor DP Ruto that the BBI document can still be made better.

‘’Former President Barack Obama once said,’ some African leaders will always change laws to suit their stay in power. This is very wrong’’  says Lucheri.

Mr. Lucheri is of the view that BBI should be re-engineered to suit the whims and expectations of the general populace as opposed to how it is now where leaders are angling for positions as captured in the BBI document.

‘’ Unless things are ironed out, I will vote no for the proposed changes’’ adds Lucheri.

Will Margaret Wanjiru and Milton Lucheri carry the day in the forthcoming elections? Time will tell.
