James Kulali Omusiiro is no stranger to the political landscape of Dagoretti North. Raised in the heart of the constituency, the former ODM youth leader and successful city businessman—with interests in transport and real estate—has officially declared his bid for the Kabiro Ward seat, promising a new era of action-driven leadership.
Known affectionately by his moniker “Omusiiro”—symbolizing strength and deep-rooted resilience, Kulali is ready to alter the trajectory of Kabiro Ward’s politics.
“I have spent my entire adult life here. Having served the ODM party in various capacities, I know firsthand what ails our people. It is time to shift from political rhetoric to visible action. I am ready to liberate my people,” says Kulali.
A Bold Vision for Infrastructure, Youth, and Women
Highlighting the urgent need for progress, Kulali points out that Kabiro Ward has lagged behind for far too long under the status quo.
“My priority is to fix our dilapidated infrastructure, address pressing education needs, and ensure our youth and women are economically empowered,” he asserts.
Navigating the political arena won’t be without competition, especially against a three-term incumbent. Yet, Kulali remains focused on the bigger picture:
“I have no personal grievance with the incumbent MCA; he is a fellow Kenyan whom I respect. However, as we look to the future, we must usher in fresh leadership capable of tackling the glaring socio-economic challenges facing our people.”

Resilience and Unwavering Commitment
Kulali’s political journey reflects a track record of persistence. In 2022, after shambolic party nominations compromised his ticket in ANC, a party he actively helped build, he ran as an independent candidate, finishing a strong second behind the winner.
Is he bitter? Not at all.
“Party politics interfered with our chances in 2022, but a delay is never a denial,” Kulali notes with conviction. “We have dusted ourselves off, learned the lessons, and are now marching forward to deliver real liberation to our people.”
Empowering the Core Fabric of Society
For Kulali, youth and women are central to Kabiro’s economic revival.
“Our youth are the core fabric of our economy, and we must make deliberate efforts to lift them up,” he explains. “Whether through university education, vocational training, or socio-economic support, no young person should be left behind. I am already personally sponsoring young men and women through university and tertiary institutions because I believe the future of our nation rests on their shoulders. As your MCA, I promise to scale this up even further.”
Equally, Kulali is dedicated to walking alongside women in Kabiro Ward to ensure they unlock their full economic potential.
Aligned with National Reform
On the national front, Kulali aligns his political ideology with progressive forces driving constitutionalism and reform, backing the Linda Mwananchi movement led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
“The nation is ripe for transformational change. As a firm believer in the rule of law and constitutionalism, I fully support the vision to transform Kenya for ordinary citizens,” Kulali declares.
A Proven Track Record of Community Service
Beyond political platforms, Kulali’s heart for the community is already visible on the ground. He has consistently supported bereaved families in transporting their loved ones home for burial, paid school fees for needy students, and covered medical bills for the less privileged.
