Hon. Swaka Showcases Development Record in Gatina, Donates KSh 190,000 to Mukuyu PAG Church

Hon. Swaka, the MCA for Gatina Ward, on Sunday joined congregants at Mukuyu PAG Church for a spirit-filled service marked by worship, reflection, and community engagement.

The minister of the day, Rev. Sogoni, delivered a heart-warming sermon from the book of Jeremiah 18:1–8, drawing lessons from the potter and the clay and reminding believers of God’s power to shape destinies.
Addressing the congregation, Hon. Swaka thanked the faithful for their unwavering support throughout his tenure.
“I want to thank the speaker of the Word today for such a fulfilling sermon. I am truly blessed, and choosing to attend today’s service is indeed God-sent,” he said.
Advancing Education in Gatina
Hon. Swaka outlined key milestones achieved during his time in office, beginning with education a pillar he described as central to his leadership.
He noted that when he assumed office, Gatina Primary School was grappling with congestion and limited infrastructure. Today, the school proudly hosts 1,800 pupils, following the expansion of classrooms that has eased pressure on parents and learners.
“Education has been key in all my promises. Issuing bursaries without providing a conducive learning environment is not enough. My cordial working relationship with our MP, Hon. Elachi, has yielded fruits, and I am happy that new classrooms have been set up,” he added.
Empowering Youth and Women
Beyond education, Hon. Swaka highlighted empowerment initiatives targeting women and youth groups across the ward.
In a deliberate effort to curb crime and unemployment, he revealed that over 300 young people have been sponsored to acquire driving licences, equipping them with skills to earn a dignified livelihood.
“Crime and joblessness must be fought. We have managed to sponsor over 300 young people who have acquired driving skills and are now honestly earning a living,” he stated to loud applause.
Roads and Infrastructure Upgrade
The congregation erupted in cheers when Hon. Swaka spoke about infrastructure improvements across Gatina Ward.
Several roads, including Muthiora Road, Ombutu Road, and various feeder roads, have been upgraded and are now passable.
“I am happy that we have upgraded several roads in Gatina. This has been possible thanks to my cordial relationship with Governor Sakaja, who remains a dear friend to the people of Gatina,” he said.
- KSh 190,000 Donation to the Church
In a gesture that deeply moved the congregation, Hon. Swaka donated KSh 190,000 towards the purchase of church instruments.
“I am a living testimony and a firm believer in God. God can transform lives and move mountains. As I sat there, the man of God challenged me to help upgrade the church instruments. I have accepted the challenge and have sent KSh 190,000 to the church for the purchase of the instruments,” he announced.
Church members expressed gratitude for the generous contribution and pledged their continued support for the area MCA.
The service ended on a high note, reflecting a blend of faith, leadership, and tangible development — hallmarks that continue to define Hon. Swaka’s tenure in Gatina Ward.
