Stormy AGM in the oofing as Ingwe members plot to impeach club SG Gilbert Andugu

Acrimony is looming at AFC Leopards  as the club heads for its Annual General meeting  to be held at Nyayo National stadium on Sunday.

Whereas the club faithfuls have religiously supported the club by travelling en-masse wherever and whenever they are called upon, the playing unit has been posting mixed results which has dismayed the fans.

In this whole set up, the club’s management led by Dr Dan Shikanda himself a former player has not lived upto its pre elections billing.

Ever since the regime got elected into office, Sunday promises to be an epic AGM because it will be the first ever physical event. The previous ones having been held virtually thanks to the then prevailing Covid 19 restrictions.

Ingwe fans plot to impeach club SG Gilbert Andugu.

On 26th June 2022, Dan Shikanda, Oliver Napali and Gilbert Andugu were elected into office in a hotly contested election at Kasarani. With Shikanda bouncing back and Napali reclaiming  the treasurer’s office a seat he had lost to the late Chichi, Gilbert Andugu from Mombasa was elected to the office of the SG amid stiff opposition from Robert Situma and Toni Omusina.

His election going by his campaign manifesto had excited members who were hoping for injection of new blood in the most important office of the club.

As days went by, these high hopes by the membership went up in flames as Andugu proved high level of incompetency, intolerance, lone ranger and utter rudeness.

The most important office of the SG has proved rudderless, clueless and mannerless.

Members query Andugu over 250 pieces of replicas.

Club members are up in arms demanding that Andugu produces 250 club replicas that he carried with him to Mombasa.

☆☆Unless Andugu accounts for these 250 replicas, it is feared that the club will lose or has lost  close to 750 000ksh☆☆

Andugu as club SG should tell us where the proceeds of the 250 jersies went. The club has been struggling financially, players have been going on go slows, harambees have been called every time. We demand that the SG explains by accounting for every replica he carried away by either returning it or giving the monetary proceeds thereof” an angry member from Ruaraka branch was quoted.

Besides the 250 replicas, members also accuse him of blowing out Umbro deal where besides the club paying in excess of 6Million,

The club had engaged Umbro agent to help in facilitating the importation of club merchandise which would have been cheaper.Andugu in his wisdom or lack of it, bulldozed, arm twisted nec members and opted for direct sourcing which was expensive compared to the other option of using an agent.  Our arch-rivals Gor Mahia received theirs in record time at a much fair price than AFC. The SG must be called out for mismanagement of this process. “lamented Christopher from Kawangware branch.

It is also alleged that 2M cannot be traced or what was procured received.

The club under the stewardship of Andugu procured training kits worthy 2M but they are yet to arrive 1 year down the line.

“Andugu runs the office of the SG like a private enterprise, he is transacting club affairs as if it is his personal business. His assumption of office has torn the NEC apart, disunity is the order of the day. He even threatens members who donated to him the mandate to run the club in trust. He ought to know that AFC leopards is not one of his unscrupulous businesses he runs in Mombasa. Death threats wont force us into silence. We are done with Andugu and he must go”. An irate member was overheard lamenting.

Over the week, several of AFC Leopards branches have been holding meetings with the sole aim of fixing the mess at the den. Loud whispers has it that Andugu is planning to import goons to disrupt proceedings but AFC members have vowed to press on with their plans to show him the door.

“AFC leopards had planned to officially unveil its sponsor with pomp and color just like Gor Mahia did but confusion emanating from the SG’s office made things impossible. One may be forgiven for thinking that Andugu works for our distractors at Nec.” a disgruntled member complained.

The club AGM shall be held on Sunday at the Nyayo National Stadium where fireworks is expected. It must be noted that the last time the club held such a meeting at Nyayo, three NEC members were impeached namely Patrick Ngaira vice chairman then, Sammy Limisi and Caroline Mayunzu both NEC members
