Elachi,Migosi and Oenga promise to liberate Dagoretti North as campaigns hit fever pitch

.Who would have thought that the exit of Simba Arati the doyen of Dagoretti North politics would elicit such fuss pomp and color?

Well, the triumvate of Elachi, Migosi and Oenga has set Dagoretti North a blaze as they battle for the over 120 000 votes. Whoever gets the majority will have the prestige of replacing the maverick Simba Arati as the next Dagoretti North MP.

With barely a month to the August 9th election, the three front runners have taken their campaigns a notch higher.

The trio are so far running the most well cordinated campaign fully  equiped state  with of the art public address systems to compliment their banners, billboards and posters that are plastered all over the 5 wards of Dagoretti North.

Elijah Getui Oenga and Jeremiah Migosi have taken it a notch higher by having matatus plying the Town-Kawangware route bear their images in what is seen as a show of both political acumen and financial might.

To reciprocate this, Beatrice Elachi fondly known as Mama Dago has resorted to what her  team calls a chini ya maji approach where she is doing a door to door campaign reaching potential voters in their houses

Peace! Peace!Peace!.
Both candidates have won much admiration fron the electorates by running what has been termed so far as the most peaceful campaigns.

We want to applaud our politicians for preaching peace during this electioneering period. We have so far not witnessed any ugly scene from them even when their suppoters meet” a chief in DN was quoted saying.

Jeremiah Migosi on the campaign trail.

Other than peace, all the three have placed education at the center of their manifestos.

‘Education is so dear to my heart, an educated community will help eradicate crime and improve living standards. I will help improve our education standards and help sponsor as many youth as possible to school” Jeremiah Migosi said.

Migosi is running as an Independent candidate after his efforts to fly the Chungwa flag were thwarted when Elachi was given the party’s ticket.

We may have lost the ODM ticket to my sister Elachi but the vision and passion to serve Dagoretti North lives on. Iam back as an independent candidate ready to serve my people.I was raised here, toiled in Dagoretti North which places me at a vintage position to serve my people better” added Migosi.

On his part, Elijah Oenga aka Ndovu kuu has also weighed in on the education pillar. Elijah Getui who is also running as an independent candidate after the fate that befell Migosi hit him too, believes that Dagoretti North can be turned  into Silicon valley by ensuring quality education is available to all.

Whereas my competitors are promising bursaries of just 5000ksh, my approach is quite different. I want to introduce scholarships which will enable both those  in secondary schools and tertiary institutions go through their studies uninterrupted. This is possible, I have done it before,Iam doing it now and will do it once elected” said Oenga.

Oenga whose symbol is a fishing rod has excited voters by promising them a departure from the handout culture and instead is promising several empowernment projects for both the youth and those beyond the youth bracket. Nicknamed Ndovu kuu or Ndoano man due to his message of empowernment, Oenga has stirred  up the imaginations of Dagoretti youth who flock to her meetings with hope.

Elachi aka Mama Dago.

Whereas both Migosi and Oenga are contesting for the first time, the former Senate whip, speaker Nairobi county  assembly and immidiate former CAS Hon Beatrice Elachi is having her second shot. In 2017 while running on Jubilee, she almost sent Simba Arati home.

Coming second to Simba in 2017 on the less colorful Jubilee party  has given her the impetus to hit the ground even harder.

Elachi switched from Jubilee to ODM and she is currently riding high thanks to the prevailing political climate.

“I have unfinished business here in Dagoretti North, education is so dear to my heart.Iam currently helping educate over 200 students in several institutions across the country. As an MP and with access to the CDF kitty, I intend to do much. Besides education empowernment both for our young boys and girls and the general populace will be a priority under my regime. This is the surest way of reducing the high crime rate in Dagoretti North’  Elachi said.

With juicy manifestos and a very energetic campaign team, Elijah Oenga, Jeremiah Migosi and Beatrice Elachi are making Dagorettians to dare to dream.

The trio are so focused on selling their manifestos devoid of tribalism.

Who will be elected the next Dagoretti North Mp? Time will tell.
