As the quest to fill state house come 2022, the Gatundu South Mp has vocalized the need to have Mt. produce the next Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya.
Speaking today through his social media handles, the legislator has said that ” due to the huge numerics votes we have, we must produce the next deputy president” This comes in the wake of various factions emerging in the Mount Kenya region competing to fill the shoes after Uhuru Kenyatta leaves the scene.
This development throws spanner in the works for leading presidential candidates who are all over the mountain wooing voters to back their bid. In the recent past, we have seen all political heavyweights crisscrossing the region in an attempt to galvanize the vote-rich region.
We have seen the deputy president, Hon. Musalia Mudavadi, Hon. Raila Odinga and Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka construct their tents in the Mount Kenya region. But from all these candidates it is Hon. Musalia who came close to offering the Mt Kenya region the Deputy president position.
In the recent interview with Inooro FM, the former deputy prime minister alluded to the fact that it is possible for him to settle for a candidate from Mount Kenya because the numbers in the region cannot be ignored. The question that begs an answer is, who will be the likely candidate to unite Mt Kenya politically?
