Aseka Miradi: A Foundation by Christopher Aseka mp for Kwisero builds new house for benga musician, Sukuma Bin Ong’aro!

In Khwisero constituency a LUHYA BENGA STAR Wilson Omutere Ongaro aka Sukuma Bin Ongaro who was without a home was in resettled in a newly constructed house by a local NGO, Aseka Miradi Foundation.

Mr Ongaro, who hails from Mulwanda sublocation, was one of the flood victims displaced on Friday night 1st May, 2020 when River Yala broke its banks.

The floods destroyed houses, crops and property in Emalindi, Eshirali, Mushiangubu, Khushiku and Mulwanda sublocations. The NGO has been providing food items to some of the affected families still camping at Mushiangubu Primary School.

Another 98 families lost their crops to the floods and have been provided with foods items. The NGO has plans to provide 60 more families with food and construct 10 new houses for the affected families.

Sukuma, the 74-year-old composer, storyteller, singer and entertainer can now continue doing what he does best, with his scintillating guitar and hilarious lyrics, in a safe and secure new house. He produced his first song in 1962 at the age of only 16 years. ~Aseka Miradi Foundation
