Reprieve For Mwendwa as 10 KPL clubs rally behind him But Afc, Homeboyz remain defiant

Fkf President can now breath a sigh of relief as 10/18 Kpl clubs support his decision to cancel Kpl league and hand Gor Mahia the title.
Kpl and Chemilil fc had moved to the SDT seeking to have Fkf’s decision overturned.

In a case filed at SDT and  certified as urgent with hearing set for 21 May, Chemelil and KPL managed to obtain a stay order against ending the league.

In their prayers, Kpl and Chemil fc want FKF restrained from “interfering” in the running of KPL.

But in a sudden turn, ten KPL clubs claim they were not consulted thus not party to the case

Sports Dispute Tribunal (SDT), Chemelil Sugar FC and KPL are challenging Football Kenya Federation’s (FKF) decision of 30th April to end the league citing force majeure occassioned by the deadly virus.

This saw Gor Mahia declared KPL champions and Chemelil Sugar FC relegated, a move that did not go down well with a section of clubs and KPL management, which felt FKF overstepped their mandate considering it is Kpl that runs tbe league.

“We have raised the matter with Oguda on several occasions, but it appears he does not heed our advice. As an employee of KPL, he shouldn’t be communicating his own thoughts, but those of his employers, in this case the clubs,” said the source.

Oguda in a series of correspondences and without convening of the KPL Governing Council or consulting clubs, expressed dissatisfaction with the manner in which FKF cancelled season.

He wrote a letter to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) protesting the move by FKF.

The names of the ten clubs have however not been disclosed, but so far Kakamega Homeboyz, AFC Leopards, Chemelil Sugar, Sofapaka ,Tusker,Bandari and Mathare United have expressed opposition against ending the season prematurely.

We shall publish the names of the ten clubs as soon as we get them.
The ten clubs are expected file sworn affidavits with SDT on Thursday distancing themselves, this is according to a close source, that did not wish to be named
