MUDAVADI DELIVERS: KIDUNDU STADIUM DREAM FINALLY COMES ALIVE IN VIHIGA

By Burton from Vihiga

For decades, it existed only as a promise whispered at rallies and a dream carried by generations of sports lovers in Vihiga County. Today, that dream is no longer abstract. It has a name, a site, a timeline and a political champion.
The long-awaited Kidundu Stadium is finally becoming a reality, marking one of the most consequential development milestones in Vihiga’s history.

The modern 10,000-seater stadium is now set to host this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations, a powerful national statement that Vihiga has arrived.
Behind this breakthrough stands Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, whose quiet but decisive leadership has turned years of talk into tangible action.

After a sensitive and carefully managed engagement with landowners around the proposed site, a major impasse was broken. In an act of rare patriotism, the landowners agreed to cede their ancestral land to allow construction to begin as early as February. It was a moment that underscored trust in leadership and faith in the future.

Mudavadi personally assured the affected families that due process would be followed to the letter, with fair and prompt compensation guaranteed. His message was unambiguous: development must never trample on dignity.

No family will be left vulnerable or dishonoured for giving up land passed down through generations,” he affirmed.

In a move heavy with symbolism and gratitude, it was announced that the names of the landowners will be permanently inscribed in Kidundu Stadium’s Hall of Honour, immortalising their sacrifice for generations to come
Under the directive of H.E. President William Ruto, and with Mudavadi’s coordination at the heart of government execution, the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) will take charge of construction. The project is expected to be completed within four months, a pace that reflects both urgency and seriousness.

Once completed, Kidundu Stadium will do more than host matches. It will redefine Vihiga’s identity, placing the county firmly on the national sporting map, opening doors for talent development, nurturing excellence, and igniting pride among the youth.

Politically, the project sends a clear message: Mudavadi is no longer just a national power broker, he is delivering visibly and decisively at home.

Kidundu Stadium is also part of a broader wave of transformation unfolding in Vihiga County under the Kenya Kwanza administration, with Mudavadi’s imprint evident across key projects such as the Mudasa Affordable Housing Project, Kenya School of Government hostels, modern markets, and the construction of several kilometres of new roads.

As bulldozers prepare to roll in February, one thing is certain:
Vihiga’s moment is here and Musalia Mudavadi is writing its chapter with action, not rhetoric.
