Video-Chaos at JKIA Aiport as Kenyans returning from countries around the world refuse fees imposed by Ke Gov for coronavirus quarantine

Kenyans returning from countries around the world are accusing the government of being insensitive with the quarantine issue.

At JKIA international Airport they where held for over 4 hrs, the airport lounge become over crowded beating the logic of social distancing.

From absence of immigration officers to lack of information to direct passengers, the mix-up threatened to mess up the government directive of physical distance to check the spread of coronavirus

The bone of contention was the expense, paying the 50 USD for accommodation per day for 14 days.

Most of the travelers wondered why the government could not quarantine them for free yet WHO had given the government a grant to fight coronavirus.

Eventually the Kenyan government took the travelers to Kenya School of Government where they will start their 14 day quarantine.

on twitter Melanie Ligale a traveler tweeted

Another flight has landed, the room is getting more crowded, there isnt any soap and water or hand sanitizer in sight (even with immigration officers who have to touch all our passports and hand them back) #coronaviruskenya

Update: we have been given a list of hotels to book, and are not being let out of the airport until we book one. Cheapest is 50 dollars a night. People are on the phone panicking. Also, it’s now been 3 hours since we landed, no food, no water #coronaviruskenya

Replying to @MelanieLigale@KenyaAirports should be held responsible for exposing travellers to corona virus. No foresight(who knew planes offload hundreds of passengers at a time?), just forcing workers to work without protective gear – among other violations.
