Dagoretti North is quietly shaping up to be one of Nairobi’s most explosive political battlefields ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Beneath the surface lies a constituency simmering with betrayal, shifting alliances, bruised political egos, unfinished revenge missions, and ambitious leaders determined to rewrite the area’s political future.
From MCA contests to the parliamentary race, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: the road to 2027 in Dagoretti North will be brutal.
But before discussing the future, one must revisit the political mistakes of 2022 mistakes whose consequences are still haunting the constituency today.
The 2022 Primaries That Left Political Wounds Open
Few constituencies experienced nomination chaos quite like Dagoretti North.
Both Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and United Democratic Alliance (UDA) bungled their internal nominations, leaving behind anger, mistrust, and factions that remain active to date.
Among the biggest casualties was former Gatina MCA Hon. David Ayoi.

To his supporters, Ayoi was not simply defeated.
He was politically sacrificed.
At the time, Ayoi had established himself as one of the constituency’s fastest-rising political figures, commanding serious grassroots support and increasingly being viewed as a future parliamentary contender.
His allies remain convinced powerful forces moved swiftly to stop his rise.
“Ayoi was removed because he had become too powerful. With Simba Arati heading to Kisii politics, many believed Ayoi was naturally positioning himself for Dagoretti North MP. The establishment moved first,” says one of his close supporters.
And that political decision may have created a dangerous consequence.
The Monster They Thought They Had Buried
When Ayoi was pushed out, many assumed his political career would quietly die.
Instead, something unexpected happened.
He adapted.
He reorganized.
He rebuilt.
Today, Ayoi remains one of the most influential grassroots mobilizers in Dagoretti North.
Political observers now argue that any candidate who secures Ayoi’s endorsement in 2027 immediately becomes a serious threat to the current establishment.
What was meant to end him may have accidentally strengthened him.
ODM Grassroots Elections Changed Everything
If anyone doubted that power was shifting inside ODM, the recent grassroots elections settled the matter.

Kilimani MCA Hon. Ogeto Moses directly confronted Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi in what insiders viewed as a silent war over control of the constituency.
The numbers heavily favored Elachi.
She had the backing of three ODM elected MCAs — Hon. Swaka, Hon. Clarence Munga, and Hon. Robert Alai.

Ogeto, on the other hand, had only nominated MCA Hon. Perpetual Okello and David Ayoi standing with him.
Yet against all expectations, Ogeto’s camp delivered a stunning upset.
The defeat sent shockwaves through Team Elachi.
For the first time in a long while, the MP’s political machinery looked vulnerable.
Ogeto Announces Himself
That grassroots victory changed the political conversation overnight.

No longer viewed as just a local MCA, Hon. Ogeto emerged as a constituency-wide political force.
His allies describe him as a grassroots operator whose politics transcend tribe, class, and ward boundaries.
“Ogeto is genuine. He listens. He helps people regardless of where they come from. From student leadership at the University of Nairobi to over 15 years serving as MCA, he has earned people’s trust,” says Moses, one of his supporters.
Inside political circles, many now describe him as the new kingmaker of Dagoretti North.
Robert Alai’s Silent Game Plan
But while Team Ogeto celebrated, one man quietly went back to work.
Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai.

Unlike others who disappeared after the ODM grassroots humiliation, Alai immediately began rebuilding political networks.
Over recent months, he has aggressively expanded his activities beyond Kileleshwa, appearing across the constituency and engaging residents regardless of class, ethnicity, or political affiliation.
Analysts believe this is not random.
The whispers are growing louder.
Robert Alai may be quietly preparing a serious 2027 parliamentary bid.
Can Elachi Survive the Gathering Storm?
For incumbent MP Beatrice Elachi, the political terrain is becoming increasingly dangerous.

The threat no longer comes from outside alone.
The biggest challenge appears to be growing from within ODM itself.
Ogeto has momentum.
Ayoi has rebuilt influence.
Alai is quietly mobilizing.
And the cracks within the party continue widening.
The question now dominating Dagoretti North political conversations is simple:
Can Elachi survive the internal rebellion building around her?
Fire on the Mountain
Dagoretti North is no longer politically settled territory.
And internal ODM battles may only be half the problem.
Outside forces are already preparing their own assault.
Among those reportedly eyeing the parliamentary seat are Samuel Karanja, popularly known as SK, associated with DCP politics, and Bright Shitemi of Linda Mwananchi.
The incumbent can no longer afford comfort.
Dagoretti North is entering a season of political turbulence.
All indications suggest that between now and 2027, alliances will break, loyalties will shift, and new power brokers will emerge.
One thing, however, remains certain.
There is fire on the mountain in Dagoretti North.
And the battle has only just begun.
