Gatina Ward MCA Kennedy Swaka and his Kileleshwa counterpart Robert Alai lit up Amboseli PAG Church after making a bumper KSh 180,000 donation, in a powerful show of faith, political unity and commitment to grassroots development.
Elected on an ODM ticket, the once little known former teacher stunned seasoned political heavyweights to clinch the Gatina seat earning him the enviable tag of “Giant Killer.”
Since then, Hon. Swaka has stayed true to his calling as a servant leader, prioritising education, health and infrastructure while remaining accessible to the people.
Drawing from his background as an educator, and his current role as Vice Chair of the Nairobi County Assembly Education Committee, Hon. Swaka has entrenched an open door bursary policy, a move that has earned him widespread admiration across Gatina.
A Visit That Turned Into a Moment of Grace
On February 15, Hon. Swaka and Hon. Alai worshipped at Amboseli PAG Church, where a fiery sermon by resident Bishop Rev. Robert Wafula, themed “Getting Favour from God and Men,” stirred the congregation and the leaders into action.

Thanking the Bishop, Hon. Swaka said:
“I am glad that we have been fed the Word of God by a respected servant of God, Bishop Wafula. I am a frequent visitor here, and whenever I sit under his anointing, I feel truly blessed.”

He went on to outline the development strides made under his leadership:
“We have tarmacked several roads in Gatina Kibue Road, which passes near this church, is the latest. Our Gatina Dispensary is now serving Dagoretti North well; medical supplies are available and our people are receiving treatment. We have installed street lights, laid sewer lines, and we continue to deliver on what we promised.”
On partnerships and the future, Swaka added:
“My vision for Gatina remains firm, we shall transform this ward. My good working relationship with our MP Hon. Elachi and Governor Sakaja has helped us improve Gatina, and we shall keep working. Baba left us in a broad-based government, and we must support President Ruto to deliver his manifesto.”
Alai: Stick With the Broad-Based Path
Taking to the podium, Hon. Alai delivered a characteristically blunt political message:
“We are in a broad-based government, and we must remain in it. We have been in opposition for too long. Since Baba left us in this arrangement, let us stick together and bring development to our people.”
He urged unwavering support for President William Ruto, area MP Beatrice Elachi and Hon. Swaka:
“Our redemption lies in supporting the broad-based arrangement, supporting Hon. Elachi and our brother Hon. Swaka here in Gatina.”
The KSh 180,000 Breakdown
When the church raised challenges touching on power supply and seating, the leaders acted immediately.
On power, Hon. Alai said: “I cannot come here with Hon. Swaka and leave without doing something. You have KSh 40,000 already—I will top it up with KSh 110,000 so that you can buy a generator.”
On chairs, Hon. Swaka stepped forward: “I will personally give KSh 20,000, and our MP Hon. Elachi has added another KSh 20,000.” Hon. Alai sealed it by adding KSh 30,000, bringing the chairs’ contribution to KSh 70,000.
Referring to himself humorously as “Ng’ombe ya grade,” Hon. Alai promised to work closely with all elected leaders in Dagoretti North to drive tangible change. With a potent mix of faith, generosity and political clarity, Hon. Swaka and Hon. Alai are fast positioning themselves as key drivers of the Tutam agenda, rallying Gatina behind unity, development and results-driven leadership.
