Igathe in an early morning tour of Marikiti market to drum up support.

The Azimio La Umoja- OKA Nairobi Gubernatorial aspirant Polycarp Igathe has today received the backing of traders at the famous Wakulima “Marikiti” market in Nairobi’s Starehe constituency.

The former Nairobi Deputy Governor, who is gunning to be the capital’s fourth governor, was an early bird today when he made a surprise 5:00 AM visit to the fresh produce market in a bid to understand what the traders at the market go through in their day to day work.

This is in line with his ongoing campaign dubbed ‘Nairobi Mwataka Nini?’ in which, Igathe and his running mate former Kibwezi MP prof. Philip Kaloki are looking to collect the views of Nairobi residents on the services they would like delivered to them as opposed to imposing a manifesto on the people, which are hardly ever implemented.

Today, I have come to see first-hand what you go through because I want us to identify our problems as the people of Nairobi and work on how to resolve them,” Igathe said.

“As Jubilee, we are looking to identify hat it is that the people of Nairobi want and that is why I wanted to come to work early with you to understand your business,” he added.

“Monica Njeri, a trader on behalf of the traders said that this is the first time that they have seen a leader who has a genuine desire to learn of their problems and vowed to rally behind the Igathe- Kaloki ticket come August general Elections.

“We shall vote for Igathe early in the morning, just like he has come early in the morning to seek to know our problems. This is a great measure of leadership,” Njeri said.

Igathe secured the Azimio la Umoja ticket following an agreement where Jubilee party is fronting a governor candidate, Wiper party the Deputy Governor Candidate and ODM with the Senator and woman representative candidates in Nairobi.
