Maureen Arua declares her bid for Kamukunji MP seat

City based politician and teacher Maureen Arua Alago has her eyes trained on the Kamukunji constituency Member of Parliamant seat at the 2022 general elections. .

Maureen, a professional in various fields including travel and tourism management, customer service and early childhood development education says she has dreams for the people of Kamukunji who she will be seeking mandate to represent in the August house.

Arua a loving wife to one Mr Julius and a teacher who has taught in different schools including Savanah junior academy, Unity primary, Eastleigh high school, United state education centre among others, now hopes to take over from the incumbent Yusuf Abdi Hassan.

Given her experience in leadership, community organisation and fundraising skills, Maureen’s political agenda include, fair distribution of bursaries, introduction of scholarship programme and feeding programme in the education sector.

While outlining her manifesto, Maureen says that under employment and empowerment opportunity, she will start programmes which will create jobs as well as fair distribution of any available opportunity within the constituency. She believes her existing networks if utilized will help create jobs.

She envisions introducing a well functioning court system within 90 days in office and improving lighting system for security.

According to Maureen, an egg bank project will be started among groups as well as hydroponic type of agriculture in a bid to encourage and boost urban agriculture.

Sports and Arts section will enjoy academies that will be started, talent identification, promotion and exposure initiatives.

The second born daughter of Walter Alago Osiemo and Ruth Oyuga, a mother of many as she says has manoeuvered through life’s hardships therefore aspires to provide a cleanup initiative for the environment as well as coming up with and pushing the right health policies.

Maureen said that Hon. Yusuf Hassan is fit for a top seat in the executive after serving Kamukunji in Parliament for the last 13 years. She believes that it’s time for Kamukunji to try out a woman leader.

Yusuf Hassan has done a commendable job for the last 13yrs which is enough for young blood to continue and keep the spirit of economic development. Yusuf is fit for a top envoy seat or a cabinet slot. He should now be thanked for his service and I hope that he will support me in my bid,” Maureen said.

“Sasa ni wakati wa mwamko mpya.. Na tunaamka na ARUA TIBIIM.” She said.

“I can’t buy your vote because I can’t afford it. I have touched so many in one way or another, at times I wronged some in one way or the other without knowing I plead for your forgiveness.

Lets hold each other’s hand and walk this path of a struggler together. My entire life I have struggled to be who I am today and I forever thank God for who I am. PAm nothing without you my People let’s build each other, tushikane. Mimi Sina, in fact among my opponents ni mimi Sina but I have a heart of gold, a heart to work together with you, ideas, wits and an eye to clinch it. Believe in me we do this together,”she concluded.
