Choose Raila over Ali Baba and the 40 thieves-David Murathe tell Kenyans.

At exactly 12: 19 Raila Amollo Odinga made a triumphant entry into Moi Sports center Kasarani. Dressed in a blue kaunda suit and donning the newest trade mark blue camp which has become synonymous with Azimio la umoja theme.

As Raila did a lap of honour reminiscent to that which is only reserved for heads of states he received warm grettings from the expectant crowd as Emmanuel Misindi belted out his song “Leo ni leo asemaye kesho ni muongo” tune.

As men of God took the mic to pray, chants of Baba the 5th rent the atmosphere whenever Raila’s name was mentioned. Infact Bishop Washington Ngede let the cat outside the bucket when he prayed that God protects Raila Amollo Odinga as he prepares to take over from Uhuru.

Oka’s principals give the event a wide berth.

With leading OKA luminaries Kalonzo Musyoka , Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi not attendinh the event, their absence was not missed.

Senator Moi and Hon Jirongo’s presence made the stadium go wild when they were mentioned.

When given a chance to speak, the Kanu boss never dissapointed.

“We trust Raila we can all be safe under Raila. Raila’s win is our win. We wish you well” Moi Said as the crows went into frenzy.

“Who can you trust with the resources of Kenya? I assure you, you can trust those who are here and those in OKA…Outside that realm ni mambo ingine” added

Moi

His co principal in OKA Hon Jirongo was candid and on point.
” Raila Odinga ni kiongozi ambaye tunaweza tegemea…Yeye akipata, sisi tumepata. Sisi tukipata, yeye amepata…The enemy is one and we are all on one side” he said.

Leaders from all walks of life paid tribute to Raila deacribing him as a true statesman and a trusted person who can steer Kenya to greater heights.

Below are some of the kind words that marked todays event.

: We now know that Kenya will be in safe hands with you as the 5th president of this country and we the women of Kenya will support you. The engineer in you must now reengineer the economy of this country – Governor Charity Ngilu

: Dr SK Macharia: Raila Odinga has lived a life of a selfless struggle for a better Kenya. He has always championed greater causes than self, and like his father, he also said ‘tosha’ in 2002 for the sake of the country and embraced the handshake

: There is no more important office than the office of the President of this country. We must be very careful about the character of the parson that we entrust with that office. We must think not with our hearts, but with our heads ~ Prof Makau Mutua #AzimioLaUmoja

When I look at the histories of those who have presented themselves I can tell you, as a scholar of democracy & human rights, that there’s not competition, it’s not even close; if this was a football match it would be over in the first 50 minutes – Prof Makau Mutua #AzimioLaUmoja.

RAila agrees to offer himself for elections in 2022.

As the day progressed into early evening, the stage was ripe for someone to move a motion that led to Raila’s acceptance.

Former speaker of the national assembly Francis Ole Kaparo was at hand to assume the vacant speakers position and he delivered.

Order!order! Roared Mr Kaparo after Mr Njola from Othaya moved the motion compelling Raila to run. The motion was seconded by Irine Mayaka.

Raila accepted the invitation and proceeded to lay down his brief agenda for Kenya.

Raila’s preaidency will emphasize on health. Education, social protection, youths and employement among other things.

: POINT One: Inua Jamii, Pesa Mfukoni. A nation’s greatness is judged by how it treats its poor and vulnerable.

Pesa Mfukoni is a social protection programme that will deliver Ksh6, 000 per month to two million of the country’s most needy families.

2: #BabaCare. We want a Kenya where no one will ever have to wonder if they can afford to save their child’slife, get treatment for their ailing grandparents or manage a chronic disease.” –
: “

3: Kazi Kwa Wote. This is about securing the welfare of the people by generating avenues for productivity, through job creation programs, investing in the critical jua kali sector and other macro and microeconomic stimulation schemes.”

: “4: Uchumi Kwa Akina Mama.
The program will unlock access to financing for women-led businesses and provide support for women on other enabling factors such as access to assets for production, land tenure and proportional representation in all Government levels.”

: “5: #Inawezekana. We know that our youth are closer to the future than we are.
But they are exploited as cannon fodder for bad politics.”

“6:# WasteNotaSingleChild: Education is non-negotiable.

This program will be an aggressive scheme to ensure that all, not some of our children, get rightful access to quality education.

We will deploy a new army of teachers to deliver to our children.” – Raila #AzimioLaUmoja
