Savula and Malala’s battle for Kakamega’s governorship seat spills into mudslinging.

Who would have thought the battle to replace the outgoing Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya will engage the two most ambitious politicians from Kakamega county who are plying their politics on ANC ticket.

There is a video clip that has emerged online where the legislator of Lugari hon. Ayub Savula is painting Senator Cleophas Malala the senator for Kakamega in some un- ANC party colors. The Mp who looks angered by some remarks or acts of omission committed by Senator Malala is seen in the video accusing Senator Malala and threatening to expel him from the party. He accused him of supporting different presidential candidates at the same time.

Surrounded by his followers Hon. Savula said that Senator Malala used to support Odinga and now he cannot claim to be ANC a hundred percent. But these remarks have been rejected by ANC supporters from both sides.

Many supporters of the ANC party have called on the two leaders to calm down and refocus their energy for the enemy is not within but outside the party. The two leaders have been told to stop trading their guns on each other but find an amicable way of campaigning for the seat to replace Hon. Opranya.

Going by the mood on the ground Kakamega Governorship seat is for ANC to lose in 2022. ANC is likely to win the Kakamega governorship in 2022 but anxiety remains, as to who will be the party candidate among the two leaders. This question is now a matter of heated debate because when you look at all possible candidates who are lining up to take the seat, the only credible candidate who seems to have what it takes is within the ANC party. Kakamega county has others candidates in other parties but there are many variables at play against them thus opposing their candidacy.
