Kenya is a blessed country with the youths forming the biggest chunk of our population. However this blessing has come up with a myriad of challenges ranging from joblessness, insecurity, radicalization and discrimination.

During electioneering period, the youths are always taken for a ride always used as cheap laborers for the purposes of running campaign errands.

“Young people must have their voices heard at all times. We cannot not be passive participants in the conversations about our future. We must get active and create the future the way we want” .

Fanny aka chairman.

Speaking exclusively to www.goodmorningKenya.com, Fanuel or simply Fanny as he is fondly called is at the forefront in challenging the youths to be bold and step forth and reclaim their rightful position in the country.

Fanny elicited excitement in Dagoretti North and Nairobi county at large when he stole the limelight and boldly addressed a huge gathering in the presence of the second most powerful man in the country.

When probed on his courage to speak before the deputy president wuthout trembling Fanny said,

“When given an opportunity, just take 60 seconds and drive your point home. When the opportunity to address the deputy president, the plight of my fellow youths came on my mind. Joblessnesa, police brutality, lost hope due to the high living conditions in the city etc. These are the issues that made me bold enough to speak candidly to the Deputy president as I implored him to actualize his bottom up economic model” added Fanny.

While thanking the deputy president for  the opportunity to be heard, Fannuel likened those leaders who shun the youths to the apertheid era leaders who were shooting school kids in Soweto during the Soweto massacre.

“Those leaders misusing the youths, those who dont want to help empower the youth are no different from the oppressive colonial regime of South Africa” said Fanny.

Fanny goes further to share a scene during the burial in the movie where the preacher espouses th youth to remai. steadfast for they represent the future.

“They fear you because you are young. They fear you because you are the future. How fearful they must be that they shoot you children. How powerful you must be that they fear you so much. You are powerful because you are the generation that will be free. The violence, the beatings, the torture, the killings; all this is the birth pain of our free nation. Please God, may I live to see it. But if I don’t, I see it now on your faces like the light of the rising sun, and my heart lifts within me, as if I, too, was young again. And I know, yes, I know freedom is coming tomorrow. May our children rest in peace. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust” David Manqele preacher in Sarafina movie.

The same sentiments are shared by Linet Natasha and Linet Nyagoha.
The two young ladies could easily pass for Poster girls in Dagoretti North in as far as the bottom up economic model is concerned.

During the deputy president’s visit, the two were used to show case how bottom up model works. The two are beneficiaries after they set up the Queens salon in Kabiro area of Dagoretti North.

“The youths should rise to the occasion and firmly assume their rightful position in the development of our nation. We should not only be used as cheer leaders but must be on the decision making table. If we fail to do that we may end up on the menu and be eaten by joblessness which will lead to crime hence death” added Linet.

In challenging the youths of this country to work smart, Fanny believes that nobody can take the burden off the youths shoulders but themselves.

” I have never seen old men and women throwing stones, even during demonstrations, it is the youth who take leading roles and even when live bullets are fired, it is us who suffer the brunt. It is therefore about time we stood firm and chart our future. Vijana tusibebwe ufala tuchanukeni na tusitumike. Future ni sisi”
Concludes Fanny.
