Rally behind president Uhuru as he strives to unite the nation: Mudavadi tell Mt Kenya region.

Amani National Congress leader and 2022 presidential hopeful has urged Kenyans and especially the Mt Kenya region to rally behind President Uhuru Kenyatta in his efforts of bringing the nation together even as his term comes to an end.

Speaking on vernacular radio stations that broadcast to the masses in the mt Kenya region, Mr. Mudavadi termed those opposing the president’s agenda as hypocrites who do not mean well for this nation.

Mudavadi’s address comes days after President Uhuru Kenyatta spoke exclusively to the Mt Kenya region urging them to support his agenda and especially the BBI initiative.

The President did not endorse me for presidency during my mother’s burial at Mululu”

Mr. Mudavadi also took the opportunity to clear rumors that the president endorsed him when he visited his home in Mululu Vihiga county during the burial of his mother two weeks ago.

During the burial of Mama Hanna Mudavadi, the head of state caused a stir when he said that it was about time other communities took the mantle of leadership to rid the nation of the boredom from the two communities that have led the nation since independence. These sentiments got some remarkable politicians off guard and have since elicited a conversation across the nation.

“When the time comes, I will come back to ask for your support. For now, we should be discussing how to revive the economy, the head of state did not endorse me for the top job president Kenyatta is not the type of leader to impose a person on the people.” Mudavadi said.

On ROTATIONAL PRESIDENCY, and BBI

“There is nothing wrong with what the President said. If you have a good manifesto and qualities of a leader, Kenyans will elect you their president no matter your tribe.”

The ANC leader further urged people from Central Kenya to rally behind the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) because they stand to gain more should the proposed changes pass.

“You are the people who were saying one man, one vote, one shilling. This was well captured and you have more constituencies. If you do not want the new constituencies, give them to us in western,” he added.

The ANC leader termed those who are against the report, as being hypocritical.

Taking a swipe at Deputy President William Ruto and his brigade, Mudavadi said it was time for the former to resign if he could not bear the responsibility of the Jubilee administration’s failures.

“The deputy president is in the government of the day. Unfortunately, we are being treated to a scenario where he wants to be in the government and opposition at the same time. This ought not to be the case. If he feels that he does not want to be part of both the success and failures of this Jubilee regime, he should do the honorable thing and resign.” said Mudavadi

While stating that he will be seeking to take over from President Uhuru in 2022, Mudavadi had this to say,

” I have said time without number that I will be seeking the presidency of this nation when the term of President Uhuru comes to an end. When that time comes, I will traverse all the corners of this country seeking your mandate to lead this nation. Until that time comes, let us all focus on working hard to build our nation as we preach peace so that Kenya reaps big from its diversity. Our economy too is not in good shape and we can only help our current leaders by having a healthy engagement as one united country.” Concluded Mudavadi.
