It is Sammy Aina vs Khalwale for Kakamega senator as Raila endorses Aina as the Azimio candidate.

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party leader and Azimio La Umoja Presidential candidate Raila Odinga has publicly endorsed the candidature of politician Sammy Aina in the Kakakmega senatorial race.
Raila introduced Aina to an Azimio la Umoja rally in Kakamega and asked the voters in the populous county to vote for Aina as their next representative in the senate.


The Kakamega Senatorial contest will be an open battle between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto after the top Azimio La Umoja organs entered a deal to have SammyAina fly the Azimio La Umoja Kakamega County senatorial flag on a Jubilee Party ticket, a few weeks after his defection from DAP-K party to the ruling rebranded Jubilee party.
Aina will face off with the county’s first Senator Dr. Bonny Khalwale who is in the race to reclaim the seat he lost in 2017.
The current senator Cleophas Malala is running for the seat of governor on an ANC party ticket while Khalwale will fly the UDA colours all in the rival Kenya Kwanza formation.
The endorsement by Raila came as a big boost for Aina who joins the race with head start following the endorsement. Kakamega has been a vote rich ground for Raila Odinga with the current Governor ODM deputy party leader Wycliffe Oparanya leading ODM party in the county
