Murkomen saves Uhuru and Raila from embarassment as house adjourns.

Senate votes to adjourn debate on the proposed revenue sharing formula for the seventh time. 34 senators voted in support while 26 voted against the adjournment motion proposed by  Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen
Revenue Sharing Divide:

“Let’s give dialogue one more chance…”

He rose on a point of order, pursuant to standing order 105

“This technically elevates Murkomen to majority leader as Poghisio becomes leader of majority”

While moving the adjournment motion, Sen Murkomen observed that the senate needed time to harmonise the revenue sharing formular which had turned out to be dividing the country into two with gainers and losers becoming the most commonly used terms.

Ironically, Sen Orengo who voted to oppose the adjournment motion paid a glowing tribute to sen Murkomen for his wisdom in moving the motion.

Busia senator Amos Wako abstained in what many observers see as a deliberate attempt not to offend either side of the divide.

While contributing to the adjournment motion which he had supported, Sen Wetangula quoted Shaaban Bin Robert the Tanzanian writer.

“Mr Speaker sir allow me to quote Tanzanian writer Shabaan Bin Roberts, he once said in his book, Kusadikika, “kwa mara nyingi, nchi hutambua mashujaa wake wakati wa janga kuu”. This crisis presents a unique moment for us to rethink how best we can equitably share revenue and maintain the unity of our nation”Sen Wetangula said.

On his part, Nairobi senator Hon Johnson Sakaja moved the house with his defiance and spirited fight for a unified country.
“Mr speaker sir, there have been attempts to intimidate me. However I refuse to succumb but remain firm in my resolve for one indivisible Kenya where revenue is shared without some parts of the country feeling dissatisfied” Sen Sakaja.

The senate has adjourned to help build consensus but Murkomen becomes the hero of the moment
