In Luo Nyanza former prime minister doesn’t preach democracy, when he visits western Kenya, he shouts don’t betray democracy.

It was at the funeral of the late Justsus Murunga where Politics played out pitting those for BBI and those against it. It was evident from the speakers that BBI is something that has taken a toll on the lives of ordinary Kenyans.

Speakers after Speaker had their narrow or shallow perspective on the raging debate about BBI. Junior Mps wanted to impress their masters before masters rose to address the mourners.

When it was time for political bosses to speak, it was Hon. Moses Wetangula, Senator for Bungoma who plainly put the matter of BBI into the perspective. He rose to tell former Prime minister that supporting BBI is ACADEMIC and no one should be pushed against the wall for taking a contrary opinion on BBI.

He said no Luhya Leader should be castigated for taking time to comment on the BBI because, ” What is important for the Luhya community is what happens post BBBI” Where will the Luhya nation be after BBI is gone, will the Luhya community occupy the top seat in the country or will the community continue playing second fiddle to Raila’s gimmicks.

He got former prime minster napping when he said that as Ford Kenya, the party will not field a candidate in Matungu by election and ANC has also agreed it will not field a candidate in Kabuchai following the death of the area MP. He continued to cement his pact with ANC boss when he told mourners that, the position they took during the Bukhungu BBI rally, still remains. Where Hon. Musalia will be, that is where Wetangula will be and the Luhya community will be in 2022.

Former prime minister did not accept this remarks with a light heart. He seemed rubbed in the chest with the above remarks and when he rose to address the mourners, he claimed that he is the son of wanga and Matungu is his home and therefore ODM will field a candidate in the by election. He went on to justify his position claiming that Luhya land is a place of democracy. But when he is in Luo Nyanza, the former prime minister doesn’t preach democracy, it only matters when he visits western Kenya, that’s when he believes democracy shouldn’t be betrayed.

He also said that in Kibera by election ANC and FORD Kenya fielded their candidates, and someone whispered, but Kibera is not in Luo Nyanza, Kibera is in capital city and the door is open for all. The by-election in Matungu will be divisive and decisive one, one by election that will define the end of ODM in western Kenya. People of Matungu know who will be the next Mp and they will definitely want the family member from the Murungas to continue.
