INJURED KPL REFEREE SUPPORTS MWENDWA PRESIDENCY

As FKF elections draws near, former Kenya Premier League referee Martin Wekesa Wamalwa has supported Nicky Mwendwa’s re election bid.

Wekesa commended the FKF President Nicky Mwendwa’s regime over the milestones made in improving the security and safety of football match officials during FKF league matches.

The Coast based referee who hit headlines across the globe in the year 2012 when he filed a USD 240,000 (ksh 20 million) suit against the Kenyan FA as compensation for loss of his conjugal rights following injury sustained on his private parts during a local derby played in Mombasa said Mwendwa deserves a second term in office following this achievement.

‘’Nicky Mwendwa has surpassed what his predecessors did while in office. Under Nicky Mwendwa’s tenure security and safety measures put in place has led to reduced incidences of soccer violence against match officials. This coupled with FIFA funded training courses offered has led to an increase in the numbers of qualified match officials and eventually raised the level of officiating of the game. It is within this context that Mwendwa deserves a pat on the back and a second term in office.’ said Wekesa.

Wekesa further stated that during previous regime match officials bore the brunt of a spate of soccer violence and he was the main victim.

During the explosive match on Septembers 22’nd, 2012 that was played at Tudor day school pitch, Wekesa was left impotent after his testacles were squeezed and damaged by Sparki Youth assistant coach Daudi ‘Rasta’ Kajembe who was angry about a decision.

The highly explosive FKF Division One derby pitted nationwide division one league arch rivals Sparki Youth FC and Admiral FC and was played at Tudor day school ground.

Having collapsed on the pitch in pain Wekesa was rushed to nearby Al-Farrouk Hospital in Mvita and a shocking medical report revealed that he suffered permanent incapacity due to extensive damage to his sexual organs and that he could no longer enjoy his conjugal right.

The incident received significant international publicity as Wekesa filed a suit through his attorney, Cornel Shisanya & Company Advocates, listing the then FKF President Sam Nyamweya as the first respondent and demanded a whooping ksh 20 million in compensation from the federation for loss of his manhood and problems the assault caused to his dear wife Mary.

The ‘man of clothe’ later withdrew the suit in 2016 citing his faith.

Wekesa after being born again now serves as a pastor with Ukunda based Church Power of the Word Ministry.

Wekesa revealed that referees are key stakeholders in the development of the beautiful game and any strides made towards enhancing their security and safety is highly recommended and for this reason Mwendwa deserve a second term in office for putting a smile on the face of match officials.
