The dead deserve some dignity” says Health Chief officer Geofrey Mosira as he leads city mortuary face lift.

County Chief Officer in the Department of Health Geoffrey Mosiria led a team of officers from the Nairobi City County Government in spearheading the landmark equipment installation of modern and up-to-date storage equipment at the county’s City Mortuary.

City Mortuary, which for years has been disguised as a lowly facility, will now be able to preserve with distinction, the remains of departed loved ones from all walks of life.

According to Mosiria, who dispatched the roles as guided by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, the morgue has been equipped with modern and up-to-date storage equipment and will henceforth be a guest house to people of all walks of life including from the high end of society and will no longer be despised as a dump site for unclaimed and unidentified bodies.

The installation of a new power generator at Pumwani Maternity Hospital and cooling units at the City mortuary will see the mortuary to accommodate the common Mwanainchi who cannot afford the private modern mortuary services.

A section of Nairobians have now taken to social media requesting Governor Johnson Sakaja to rename the City mortuary in line with the positive transformation at the facility,
Governor Sakaja has continued with his pledge of bettering the health sector in Nairobi as he lets Mosiria lead the inspection of various facilities within the capital.

Mosiria toured six health facilities to inspect various development projects in the county. The County government has installed a new power generator at Pumwani Maternity Hospital as well as cold room equipment for the preservation of bodies at the City Mortuary.

Mosiria as well checked on Pumwani Maternity Hospital, Easleigh Hospital, MamaLucy Kibaki Hospital, Pangani Dispensary, and Ngara.

Mosiria told reporters that the Governor was committed to ensuring that health facilities have the equipment, drugs, and personnel required in his bid to ensure that he fulfills the election promises that he made to the electorate in Nairobi.

Health workers in Nairobi hospitals have expressed their delight in the County administration noting that this is the first time that the supply of drugs and equipment is being made in time.
