Robert Situma: Let Your Voice Be Heard – A New Dawn at Leopards

.Robert Situma aka Omusawa Nanyende Original is offering himself for the position of SG in the forthcoming AFC leopards elections. He spoke to GMK.
My brothers and sisters,It is with great humility and unwavering passion that I present myself before the great AFC Leopards family as a candidate for the position of Secretary General. This election marks the beginning of a fresh chapter for our beloved club. For over 26 years, we’ve waited for a Premier League title and endured 8 years without a domestic cup. It’s time for a paradigm shift—a new vision, a new energy—and I believe the right person to lead this transformation is none other than Robert Situma Omusawa, Original NintendoI am a seasoned human resource professional with 18 years of experience in both the public and private sectors. Born and raised in Bungoma County, I grew up with a deep love for sports, playing both volleyball and football from primary school through university. My leadership journey began early, captaining volleyball teams at high school, university, and club levels.Armed with HR expertise, I bring on board strong managerial and governance skills, coupled with the soft skills necessary to drive our club forward. I believe in systems and structures—because for AFC Leopards to realize its goals, we must build a strong foundation. Currently, I serve as an HR human resource and am finalizing my Ph.D. in Human Resource Management at the University of Nairobi.I am no stranger to the Leopards’ den. I’ve been part of this family since our days in the Nationwide League in 2008. I actively took part in reviving stadium attendance through the formation of the Facebook Branch, attending numerous away matches. From 2011 to 2013, I proudly served as Organizing Secretary of the Facebook Branch—a period that saw fans return in droves, impactful CSR activities across the country, and successful advocacy for the constitutional shift from a 1-year to a 3-year term, during the tough standoff between Ochiel and the late Ole Magelo.I’ve walked this journey with you—joining hands to contribute to the famous club bus, “Monster” when the team relied on Metro Buses. In 2015, amid the financial crisis, I co-founded the 1K Initiative to support player welfare. We went as far as sourcing kits when the team had none until the loyal member of the club stepped up with a new set.

Today, I stand before you once again—not just as a loyal member, but as a visionary ready to bring back our lost glory. My leadership will focus on strong management, commercial revitalization, community engagement, and youth development.
This is our time. It’s time for a new dawn. It’s time for Robert Situma Omusawa, Original Nanyende, to take the mantle as Secretary General of AFC Leopards and lead this club to the greatness it truly deserves.
