‘Help me pay hospital bill for my sick dad”MP’s daughter begs.

The daughter of a formerly powerful Kibaki-era politician has sparked a conversation on social media after she requested assistance in settling her father’s huge hospital bill.

Through a Twitter post, Mish Chemos Serut revealed that her dad, Ex-Mt Elgon MP John Serut, has been battling a tough medical condition since last year which has incurred the family over Sh20 million in expenses

Hey guys, so a lot of you don’t know me but I’m here requesting your help today. My father’s name is John Serut and he’s been unwell for a while now. He was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in January of 2020. Since then, we’ve had medical bills totaling to about 20 million.

The daughter goes on to explain,
Multiple myeloma is a type of blood cancer that affects multiple organs eg the kidneys, bones and liver. So far, we’ve handled this as a family but we’re now reaching out to you for help.

Someone by the name @fundi wa stima had some kind words.
I sympathize with John Serut daughter, she’s trying to help a parent. Unfortunately the parent was among the ruthless ruling cadre that cultivated tribalism and corruption in Kenya. I hope she finds peace, but that must start with her apologizing to the people not being defensive

As the news and reactions kept flowing, this audi also hit the Social media.

John serut is a lesson and should be a lesson to everyone that we live on borrowed time and the best each of us can do is love your neighbors and do good to everyone. Otherwise a kikuyu singer sung that ” you will not sleep until you have suffered the wau you made others suffer“.

But who is John Serut?

In his heyday, John Bomet Serut was a powerful politician who served in both parliament and cabinet.

Serut has represented Mt Elgon constituency for a period spanning 1o years.

He was first elected under a Kenya African National Union (KANU)  ticket from 2002 to 2007 when he briefly lost the seat before regaining it in 2013 as an independent candidate.
