With few days left before resigning from his prime job, Dr Mukhisa Kitui is slated to present his credentials to ODM party as the right candidate to beat the doyen of ODM presidential Party candidate for all seasons.
Sources withing the Mukhisa Kitui tactical team, say their candidate is the only candidate with presidential acumen to defeat the leader of ODM for the ticket. The sources also said that his profile and academic qualifications will outshine any other candidate preparing to present his papers for the coveted job.
Even though he is not a member of ODM party yet signs says that, during his recent trip to capital hill, he agreed to join ODM as soon as possible, pay for his life membership and be entitled to any other benefits.
Other candidates who are more likely to challenge Raila Odinga for the ticket include business mogul from Mombasa Mr Suleiman Shabal, Suna east Mp Mr. Junet Mohammed and ODM deputy party leader governor Wycliffe Ombetsa Oparanya. James Orengo will not attempt to run against Raila Odinga because lessons he learnt in 2002 presidential bid are still simmering in his memory.
The governor of Mombasa Ali Hassana Joho and his counter party Mr Amos Kingi will not participate in the said exercise. This follows their renewed resolve to form coastal political party they believe will help them bargain with other presidential candidates from other regions. If they don’t form their political party, sources privy to the on goings say they feel they risk being out of government since their two terms as governors has come to an end.
