‘Why politics?’’ we posed the question to her
‘’ I fell in love with politics while studying law at the Strathmore University college. There was this topic on ‘ Politics democracy and governance’ that left an indelible mark on me. During one of the sessions, we were privileged to have guest lecturers and my encounter with the late Hon Otieno Kajwang laid the foundation for the political me.
‘’ If you can just get one person to believe in you, you can then make a difference’’ the late Kajwang told us. This has ever since been the driving force behind my passion to bring about change in several spheres that I have trodded.’’ Said Ambogo.
Youths and politics.
Wakili Ambogo has been advocating for the participation of youths in the governance of this nation. This is one area that she has unapologetically given out her thoughts. Through forums like the Center for Advocacy and awareness for youth in Africa, Ruth has managed to help several youths in Kenya to understand their potential and actively engage in nation-building without waiting to be given positions.

‘’ I may have spent a considerable amount of time in Nairobi during my studies and tour of duty but I have never lost touch with the ground. Vihiga remains dear to me. It gave me a lot and this is the time to give back to my people in Vihiga by offering myself for the seat of Vihiga county woman senator in 2022’’ declares Wakili Ruth.
Nicknamed the Duchess of Maragoli, Wakili Ambogo has been traversing the vast county of Vihiga selling her manifesto in readiness for 2022.
Wakili Ruth believes that with the right leadership in place, Vihiga can be transformed for the better.
‘’ Issues of the girl child, education, unemployment, and general infrastructure in our county need to be addressed. Having interacted with both the youths and women who constitute the greatest percentage of the people in this county, I believe this places me in a vantage position to articulate the issues affecting our people in the assembly and laying practical steps to address them’’ added Ruth Ambogo.
Her candidature has excited the youths across the county who see in her a resolute young leader ready and willing to conquer fields that have been tagged as the preserve of only men and the middle-aged members of the society.

The show that is hosted weekly by Bramwell Mwololo features Hon Aladwa, Sen Mwaura, current Nairobi acting governor Ben Mutura among other things. Through the show, Wakili Ruth Ambogo has established herself as an avid debater with a grasp of issues that affect the nation.
