Breaking: Matungu by election set for 4th march 2021.

Th IEBC has said the Matungu constituency by election is set for the 4th of March 2021. This comes after the demise of the area Mp who was a first time Mp. In a statement it read,

” Matungu by-election will be held on March 4, 2021 alongside Huruma, London, Hell’s Gate, Kiamokama & Kitise /Kithuki ward polls” IEBC. Submission of candidates to IEBC by political parties to be held on 21st December 2020.

This comes hot on the heels of Msambweni by election where an independent Mr Feisal Abdallah won against Mr. Boga an ODM candidate. This defeat has opened cracks within the orange party, it has exposed simmering and unpractical attitudes of manning the orange party. ODM has been accused by various candidates for behaving badly especially when it holds party nominations.

For Matungu by election, a seat held by the late Matungu Mp Hon. Justus Murunga until his death, will attract a lot of national interest. Political pundits believe it will put all major political parties at logger heads. ANC as a party has to prove to other political parties, Matungu is theirs to keep, but on the fences, ODM and possibly the deputy president also want to wrestle the seat from ANC.

It will be a gigantic duel for ANC and FORD Kenya in the coming months because, Ford Kenya is also staring at another gruesome battle ahead of it in Kabuchai constituency in Bungoma County. Many players would want to cause upset to their fellow players all in the name of winning the seat. Political manners through which the battle ahead will be played out will determine how national politics will be perceived within these regions and above.

During the funeral of the late Mp, the Bungoma senator said that, ” Matungu is an ANC zone and we as Ford- K will not field a candidate to compete with our brothers in ANC. And similarly, I know my brother Musalia with his ANC party will not give Ford Kenya unnecessary competition when we embark on the Kabuchai by-election following the demise of our brother John Lusweti Mukwe,” Wetang’ula said
