Uhuru’s state of the nation address was a scene from a poorly pirated 1968 movie by Martin
Luther King jr.
On the eve of his assasination in 1968, Martin Luther delivered one of his most famous speech dubbed I have been to the mounrtain top and back.
In the speech Martin Luther pours his heart out fighting for equality and urges his people to persue it peacefully.
As president Uhuru Kenyatta delivered his speech which looked like a poorly pirated work by Luther, he kept on mentioning about peace equality etc.
As a sitting president, Uhuru owes Kenyans everything that is within his powers to ensure stability, peace and equality. He therefore does not need to promise that which he can easily deliver.
Whereas we have the Kemsa scandal hanging on the shoulders of his government the president failed to lay bare the progress so far in recovering the monies instead he went ahead to praise the poorly equiped frontline workers for dying on duty ,what a shame!
Well, I don’t know what will happen now. We’ve got some difficult days ahead. But it really doesn’t matter with me now, because I’ve been to the mountaintop. And I don’t mind. Like anybody, I would like to live – a long life; longevity has its place. But I’m not concerned about that now. I just want to do God’s will. And He’s allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I’ve looked over. And I’ve seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the Promised Land. So I’m happy, tonight. I’m not worried about anything. I’m not fearing any man. Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord.
The above excerpt from Martin Luther’s speech is what the president lifted to massage our egos with snake oil.
“Like Moses in the Bible who sat at the top of Mount Nebo and saw the future that the people of Israel were about to Cross into the promised land, I too have seen our future:
This is what our future looks like:
A Kenya where no one will ascend to a high public office on account of their tribe
A Kenya where no capable person will wallow in poverty because of poor governance
A Kenya Where our potential as a people will be exploited for the greatness of our nation
A Kenya Where we will all share equitably in the prosperity of our Nation.
The Future is bright
The Future is beckoning
The Future is here for us to take
Indeed, a future where truly our Justice will be our Shield and Defender.” Uhuru said.
The above empty rhetoric from president Uhuru qualifies for a soecial place in the dustbin of Kenya’s dark and bad past.
Uhuru and his handshake partner Raila Odinga are kings of double speak or rather those preaching water as they gulp Jameson!
BBI is providing a constitutional moment for Kenyans but unfortunately the process has been hijacked by the two big boys.
This very act will make Martin Luther turn in his grave.!!
The only thing that give us hope is that,Uhuru as Moses and his brother Raila will definately end their trip to Canaan on Mt Nebo.
It is therefore upto Kenyans to chat their way forward devoid of dictatorial tenderncies by Raila and Uhuru
