Where is our money? Harambee stars ask Mwendwa as Cs Amina says no money for fkf.

Harambee players who competed in 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) tournament in Egypt are a dejected lot after failing to receive winning bonuses for their 3-2 success against Tanzania in a Group ‘C’ match.

For the first time the of Kenya government funded the team to a tune of Sh244 million for use before and during the Afcon tournament .
Football Kenya Federation (FKF), through its CEO Barry Otieno, has stated numerous times that winning bonuses were not factored in the budget and therefore cant be demanded from the 244M.

“It is Cs Amina who promised the boys 10M should they beat Taifa stars of Tanzania” Otieno said.

“We are still waiting for the ministry to give us that money. However, we acknowledge the unique situation brought about by coronavirus pandemic, and it would be unfair to go to ministry to follow up on this issue when we are faced with this coronavirus threat,” Otieno added on Friday.

But on her part Cs Amina has distanced herself from the claims, saying it is odd for FKF to say this when it had received maximum support from her ministry, including two visits abroad by senior ministry officials and a whopping Sh244 million budget that was to cover the team’s expenses, including winning bonuses.

“As a ministry we dont owe Fkf anything, we received a budget of 244M and in that budget winning allowances were factored so let FKF sort the players” a ministry official said.

For the first time in many years, our national team had proper training in France and to play in Madrid before setting foot in Cairo. Nothing was left to chance and nothing was left unpaid. The official added

“It is odd for FKF to expect the government to pay the winning bonuses. The Sh244 million was dispatched to FKF for Afcon. It was the largest amount to ever be channelled towards any national team,” A letter from the Cs read in part.

Other than budgetary issues raised over the 244M, Nick Mwendwa is also racing against time to avert a Fifa ban over Amrouche’s 109M.

The issue of the unpaid bonuses is set to demotivate the stars even as afcon and and WC qualifications nears
