The Jamia Mosque Committee has launched a landmark Photo Exhibition celebrating a century of faith, service, and leadership, marking 100 years since the establishment of one of Nairobi’s most iconic religious and cultural institutions.
The exhibition, hosted at the Multi-Purpose Hall from October 27 to 30, brings together a rare collection of archival photographs documenting Jamia’s transformation from its modest beginnings in the 1920s to its current stature as a spiritual, educational, and social pillar for Kenya’s Muslim community and beyond.
Through a carefully curated selection of images, the showcase highlights Jamia Mosque’s enduring contributions to religious education, social welfare, and civic life, as well as its role in shaping the architectural and cultural landscape of the nation’s capital.
Speaking during the launch, officials from the Jamia Mosque Committee emphasized that the exhibition not only honors the mosque’s founding vision but also pays tribute to generations of leaders and worshippers who have upheld its mission of unity, service, and guidance.
The event drew the attendance of dignitaries, scholars, and community leaders, many of whom have been instrumental in the mosque’s century-long journey. The gathering also provided a reflective space to commemorate Jamia’s milestones and inspire younger generations to carry forward its legacy.
“This centennial exhibition is more than a look back at our past — it’s a celebration of what faith and community can build together,” said the Secretary General of Jamia Mosque. “We hope visitors will walk away inspired by the rich history and the enduring spirit that continues to define Jamia.”
