FKF Elections: Alila, Mule, Osano Roll up Sleeves to Fight Mwendwa
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) presidential candidates have hit the campaign trail for the forthcoming federation’s in earnest immediately after the FKF Electoral Board released the polls roadmap.
They said the elections were long overdue and must be held without further delays as they started campaigns ahead of the FKF national elections to be held on October 19th, 2020.
Former AFC Leopards chairman Dan Mule said the polls should go on as scheduled by the FKF Electoral Board and where the ideal candidate should be voted in may the best candidate win.
“Let’s desist from taking the elections action in court and settle it through the ballot. Its not a matter of life and death as there is always next time for thje losers,” said Mule.
The former FKF National Executive Committee (NEC) Nyanza representative Tom Onyango Alila asked other candidates aspiring for the presidency and various NEC posts to hit the ground running by soliciting for votes from the delegates including the branch officials.
“Candidates should venture into a vote hunting mission amongst the 96 delegates who are known to all of us instead of engaging in sideshows, court room and press wars,” he said.
However, Alila asked the FKF Electoral Board to change the dates so as candidates for various posts are given adequate time source for the Chapter 6 requirements which require them to have certificate og good conduct, clearance by the Credit Reference Bureau and Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) amongst others.
Another presidential candidate and sports analyst Tom Osano said he had confidence in the Electoral Board a in delivering a credible election nd those meaning well for the federation should support the board and Fifa
“We need to get past the electioneering period and start the job of serving the federation. We cannot be in this situation forever,” he said.
Osano said and said he was ready to hit the road running in his quest for the presidency and urged others interested for FKF posts to campaign instead of trying to disrupt the process.
Former Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side Shabana Chief Executive Officer (Ceo) who is aspiring for the national Women’s representative post Kerubo Momanyi said she was looking forward to an end of the electoral process.
“As a candidate, I found both the Fifa directive and electoral board roadmap to be pretty straightforward. This process has been as long as it has been exhaustive, and I look forward to the end of it all so that I can start implementing my development agenda for women’s football,” she said.
Fifa instructor who is also eyeing the Women’s representative seat said the blending of the FKF election rules and Fifa statutes will make the elections credible, free and fair and should be embraced by aspirants.
She said the elections board roadmap was reasonable and commended the body for reviewing some of the regulations in increasing the participation of those aspiring for various FKF posts.
“My name will be on the ballot, am ready to battle for the women’s post and may the best candidate emerge victorious,” quipped the retired referee.
