Unity, Growth and Legacy is what Enos Mutoka is bringing as AFC Leopards Chairman.

.

AFC Leopards or Ingwe as its  faithful supporters call it, is set to hold its general elections in June.  Election fever has gripped the club. When not dancing to the beats of Isukuti and Gadaa as they cheer their beloved team, the members are criss crossing the city popularizing their candidates for the forthcoming elections.

According to the club constitution, the club is set to be holding elections after every four years. Office bearers are only eligible to serve for a maximum of two terms.

With Dr Dan Shikanda’s term coming to an end after serving the mandatory two terms, the race to replace him has started in earnest.

Is Enos Vincent Mutoka the ideal guy for the hot seat?

This is a question that many leopards fans and supporters are asking.

Who is Enos Vincent Mutoka?

Enos Profile.

Born in Bukura - Butere.Kakamega county, went to Bukura Primary  school where he sat his KCPE before proceeding to St. Peters
High school Mumias.
Enos holds a Bachelor of arts - journalism and Media  degree from the University of Nairobi  currently pursuing an additional Masters degree in Marketing at the U.S.I.U.

Enos started interacting with matters soccer at a tender age. The late Mzee Israel Mutoka, a pivotal figure whose name will forever be reserved in the club’s history for his role during the formation of AFC Leopards in the early sixties is a family member. It is believed that this relationship drew the young Mutoka into falling in love with AFC.

“My love for AFC is as old as IAM, I grew up watching AFC play and at times players would visit our rural home thanks to Mzee Israel Mutoka. My passion and zeal for this club is what has informed my decision to offer myself for the position of club chairman ” Enos.

Mr Mutoka believes that Ingwe is the most common entity when it comes to the unity of  the Mulembe people.

“Our forefathers collapsed all the sub clans teams and formed AFC Leopards in 1964. It is therefore incumbent upon us to actualize that dream by making Ingwe the unifying factor as per our forefathers dreams”. Enos.

Reclaim Ingwe’s lost glory is Enos’s mantra.

Whereas it is clear that the current AFC is a pale shadow of it’s former self, Enos believes in re-living the good old days when Ingwe was reverred and feared in equal measure.

“AFC Leopards used to bring the entire nation to a standstill whenever it was hosting great teams across the continent. Teams like Asante Kotoko of Ghana, Kalamu FC of Congo DRC just to name  but a few were our contemporaries.Bringing AFC  back to the continental stage will form the corner-stone of my bid. We shall do this in the full knowledge that times have changed and the demands of running such a huge club in terms of resources  is equally big. We shall seek to partner with several corporate entities locally and internationally for the benefit of our great club. I have been at the forefront in seeking and securing sponsorships for AFC and with the honor of serving as chairman, the financial issues bedevilling the club will be sorted” Enos said.

financial stability

Enos believes that financial stability is key for AFC leopard’s progress.
“We need to cast our nets wider, over- reliance on sponsors and gate collections will not spur the much needed growth. We must ensure our merchandise are not only of good quality but also affordable so that the low cadre of our fan base get to don our club replicas. We shall do jersies for kids, hoods, caps, mugs etc all in the name of AFC which will boost our financial standings which will  in return help us to sign title winning squad”.

AFC deserves the best players…

On player recruitment, Enos believes that proper player recruitment regime that will incorporate legends and qualified scouts will ensure Ingwe returns to its glory.

Inclusive leadership
On leadership, Enos proposes an all inclusive leadership where NEC and members interact regularly for the good of the club.

With just under two months before Ingwe decides, Enos Mutoka has upped his engagement with the club membership with the sole aim of winning their confidence for the coveted seat.

The chairman seat has attracted 4 other aspirants, namely former club star Bonface Ambani, Former club CeO Ronald Namai, Club treasurer Oliver Napali and now Enos Mutoka.

So far several branches have warmed up to the idea of having Enos as chairman with some already publicly endorsing his bid.
