Clarice Muloma: A New Voice of Hope for Chavakali Ward

Chavakali Ward in rural Vihiga County has long grappled with a range of challenges that continue to affect the daily lives of its residents. From rising unemployment among the youth to growing concerns over crime, drug abuse, and limited access to essential social amenities, many locals say the ward is in urgent need of fresh leadership and practical solutions.
It is against this backdrop that Clarice Muloma has stepped forward to contest for the Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat, presenting herself as a candidate determined to champion the interests of the people and restore hope to the community she calls home.
Born and partly raised in Chavakali, Muloma says her connection to the ward runs deeper than politics. Having experienced firsthand the struggles faced by many families in the area, she believes her upbringing gives her a clear understanding of the needs and aspirations of local residents.

Chavakali is home. I understand the challenges because I grew up here and I have seen how many young people struggle to find opportunities,” she says.

Muloma’s campaign is anchored on a manifesto that prioritizes education, youth empowerment, and equitable development across the ward.

Education, she argues, remains the most powerful tool for transforming the future of Chavakali. She has pledged to push for transparent and fair distribution of bursaries to ensure that students from disadvantaged backgrounds are not locked out of school due to financial constraints.

Every child in Chavakali deserves a chance to learn and succeed. Bursaries must reach the truly deserving families and be distributed in a transparent and equitable manner,” she notes.

Beyond education, Muloma is also focusing on youth empowerment, an issue she says cannot be ignored in a ward where unemployment continues to fuel crime and drug abuse.
Her plan includes advocating for skills development programs, supporting small youth-led enterprises, and creating opportunities that can help young people build sustainable livelihoods.

Young people are not the problem; they are part of the solution. When we empower them with skills and opportunities, we reduce crime and restore dignity,” she says.
Muloma also intends to push for improved market infrastructure within the ward to support small-scale traders and farmers. By strengthening local markets, she believes the ward can stimulate grassroots economic growth and create more opportunities for residents.

She emphasizes that development must reach every corner of the ward, promising to champion equitable allocation of resources so that no village is left behind.
Political observers in the region say candidates with strong local ties and community-driven agendas are increasingly resonating with voters who are eager for practical leadership rather than empty promises.
For Muloma, the journey is not just about winning an election but about restoring confidence in leadership and building a ward where residents can thrive.

Leadership is about service. My goal is to work with the people of Chavakali to create opportunities, strengthen education, and give our youth a reason to believe in their future,” she says.

As the race for Chavakali Ward gathers momentum, Muloma hopes her vision for a more empowered and prosperous community will earn her the trust of voters seeking a new chapter for the ward.
