Hon Hadija Juma: A helping hand amid floods and covid 19 pandemic.

Kakamega county stands out as one of the hardest hit counties when it comes to floods. The heavy rains accross the country have wrecked havoc leading to homelessness.

In Mumias area, we meet Hon Hadija Nganyi fondly called Mama Mwepesi. Her efforts in serving her people revealed a woman driven by passion to serve humanity.

A strong muslim, a mother a sister and a politician all wrapped in one gives you Hon Hadija Nganyi.
Over the weekend, our reporter trailed her down Kakamega county where she was busy serving her people and sought to know what drives her. “Service to humanity” She said.

“River Nzoia has burst its banks, River Yala, River Sosioni and all are passing through Kakamega county. This is something I have never seen before.My heart aches seeing women suffer with their young ones. As a mother and a daughter I decided to do something in my small ways to help and that is when I decided to distribute foodstuffs blankets to the displaced.” Hadija adds.

“I thank God today I was able to share food stuffs with our people who’ve been affected by floods at Eshiabungu Khwisero constituency and Budonga, Kochwa and Kamuli Navakholo constituency.Over 500 displaced families received food from us. May God make it easier for them.” an update on her social media page read.

Hadija Nganyi aka Mama Mwepesi is angling for a county position in 2022. According to several people we spoke to, Hadija stands a better chance owing to her visibility, dedicated service and her fleet footedness that has earned her the name ” Mama Mwepesi”.

“I am a born leader and politics to me is a calling, it is true that I have a vision for my Kakamega people as a woman rep but currently I am okey helping my people during these hard times of covid 19 and floods” Hadija stated when asked about her political ambition.

The aspiring Woman rep has a big place in her heart for widows, girl child and the neglected of our society. She has personally taken up cases of rape and helped rehabilitate many young mothers by ensuring they go back to school.
Hadija has taken advantage of the holy month of ramadhan to not only pray but to actively hit the ground and assist her people.
