Is Tim Wanyonyi grooming Kitusuru MCA Alvin Palapala for take over in 2027 as he eyes Nairobi governorship
Westlands constituency remains one of the 17 constituencies that ignite passion whenever elections are on. The constituency boasts of maverick politicians like the late Njoroge Mungai, the late Samuel Kivuitu, the late Amin Walji, and infatigible no nonsense Fred Gumo of the kaa ngumu kama Gumo fame. It is currently being represented by Hon Timothy Wanyonyi Wetangula.
It is however the mention of the name Fred Gumo that elicits emotions. Gumo formerly a chairman of the defunct Nairobi city commission, rode into Westlands like a wild leopard ready to pounce.
Indeed Gumo was both as swift as a leopard and as bold as a lion
Westlands became his constituency untill when he honorably retired handing the mantle to his kin Hon Timothy Wanyonyi Wetangula who incidentaly is the younger brother to National assembly speaker and Ford Kenya boss Hon Moses Masika Wetangula.

Hon Tim Wanyonyi demystified Westlands politics. Now serving his third and final term, his reign hqs been characterized by development with little politics. This approach has seen him win over support from the cosmopolitant constituency.
Tim can be described as a gentle giant who walks slowly but carries a big stick.
“Tim is a true leader, he does not discriminate people based on faith, creed, social status or tribe. We are all his children. We thank God for sending us this great leader” Mary Wambui from Githogoro said
Tim has also cultivated a cordial working relationship with all the MCAs. This has made iteasier for him to deliver on his election promises.
Alvin Olando Palapala MCA Kitusuru.
One such MCA who enjoys very good relationship with the MP is Hon Alvin Palapala.
The third term MCA for Kitasuru is one of Hon Tim’s trusted soldiers. Infact whenever Tim is engaged elsewhere, his message is always carried by Alvin.
With Tim’s eyes now firmly fixed on Nairobi governorship in 2027, it therefore goes without saying that Alvin Olando is heir apparent.
www.goodmorningkenya.com spoke to the budding politician and we sought to know his future ambitions in so far as running for MP Westlands is concerned and he said.
“I am currently serving my people in Kitasuru as their MCA. Iam happy that our MP is doing a wonderful job in Westlands. Whether I will be offering myself for election in 2027 as MP Westlands is a question that time will tell but whether Iam ready for the daunting task then the answer is Yes , however the seat is not yet vacant and all my efforts are currently geared towards helping my MP deliver on his pledges” Alvin said.
The entry of Hon Palapala into the Westlands race will be an interesting encounter.
During his tenure, Alvin has been tagged as a performer and a shrewd mobilizer. He never shys away from speaking his mind on topical issues.
Alvin has christened himself as adefender of the common mwananchi, a trait that has endeared him to so many peope.
“Gumo was a great defender of the people of Westlands. Tim has built many roads, schools and empowered very many people.Now with Alvin, we shall have both Gumo and Tim all rolled up in one. We are looking forward to having Alvin as our MP even as Hon Tim ascends to higher office of city governor” Chris a voter in Kangemi said.
