Office of the spouse to prime cabinet secretary is a bad joke-Opiyo Wandayi.

National assembly minority leader, Opiyo Wandayi has challenged the government on what he termed as burdening Kenyans with unconstitutional offices that gobble public funds, leaving nothing for development.

The Ugunja Member of Parliament revealed that he will move to court seeking to declare some of the offices illegal and have those behind their creation charged.

Speaking at Madungu grounds in Ugunja on Saturday, Wandayi termed the recently launched Office of the Spouse of the Prime Cabinet Secretary unconstitutional, adding that its creation was a mockery to Kenyans.

He accused the Kenya Kwanza government, led by president William Ruto of taking Kenyans for a ride during the campaigns when they told the country that they were not interested in creating positions for well-connected leaders and the rich.

“They campaigned on a promise that their interest was addressing issues of the hustlers. Instead, what they are now doing is creating positions for themselves,” said the minority leader who was flanked by among others, Mumias east MP, Peter Salasya, Lugari MP, Nabii Nabwera and Migori senator, Eddy Oketch.

Wandayi said it was shameful and a total waste of public funds for a leader to create the Office of the Spouse of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, promising to raise the matter in parliament.

“As I raise it in parliament, I will be sponsoring a petition in court to declare those offices illegal and unconstitutional and if any public money has been used in their creation, then whoever is responsible will be forced to refund the money plus interest,” he said

At the occasion, Migori senator, Eddy Oketch lamented that the country was under serious attack on its values.

Oketch faulted the Supreme Court for the recent LGBTQ ruling, urging president William Ruto to come out strongly to protect national values.

“The country is found on national values and article 45 of the constitution is clear that the foundation of the community is the family,”  he said
