The corporate head and former Nairobi Deputy Governor used the opportunity to sell his idea of the Nairobi Mwataka Nini? campaign in which, Igathe and his running mate former Kibwezi MP prof. Philip Kaloki are looking to collect the views of Nairobi residents on the services they would like delivered to them as opposed to imposing a manifesto on the people, which are hardly ever implemented.

A leader is one who never loses touch with the ground. I want to promise Nairobi that my office will be open from the first day I get into office,” Igathe said.

He asked the ODM aspirants to be his ears on the ground and listen to the wishes of the residents of Nairobi since it is those wishes that alongside his government, the leaders will seek to fulfil once elected.
Igathe has been touted as one who will bring sobriety in the running of the city county. Many Nairobians hold the believe that Nairobi will be in a good pair of hands with Igathe as the governor due to his corporate back ground and success at his various assignments. He is a manager and astute businessman who is capable to bring sobriety in city politics.
Igathe in 2017 resigned from Vivo Energy where he worked as CEO to join politics where he ran alongside Sonko and won to become Nairobi’s second Deputy Governor.

“I am going to be the first politician who demonstrates that politics is not about looting wholesale from public coffers to distribute retail to your few friends, but it is about service and transforming livelihoods,” Igathe said.
