Luhya leaders in Nairobi led by ODM SG Edwin Sifuna and Makadara MP George Aladwa have for the second day in less than 24hrs demanded that Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi be given the ODM/Azimio ticket in Nairobi.
Speaking during a press briefing at Tim Wanyonyi’s command center in Hurlinghum, the leaders demanded that Hon Raila Odinga gives Hon Tim Wanyonyi the ODM ticket without further delay.
“As city luhyas we have supported the party and Azimio all this long. We understand as luhyas we are not getting the runningmate position. The only other big slot available which we strongly lay claim on through Tim Wanyonyi is the Nairobi governorship. We are ready to lose all other seats in Nairobi but on the governorship race we shall never losen our demand to have Tim fly the ODM/Azimio flag and by extension Mulembe nation’s interests in the city” Aladwa said.
Azimio candidates in Nairobi include Agnes Kagure , businessman Richard Ngatia and new entrant Polycarp Igathe .
ODM party postponed its nominations in Nairobi to Friday in what many believe is a bid to help reach consensus among the many aspirants.
