Bungoma county assembly suspends its sittings after 6 MCA’s tested positive of covid 19: Speaker Hon Situma says.
Bungoma County Assembly will remain closed for a further 14 days effective Wednesday October 28, 2020 after 6 MCAs and 7 staff members tested positive for COVID-19.
Speaker Hon Emmanuel Situma, in a statement to the media houses, said that the Assembly was closed two weeks ago as a precautionary measure before mass testing was done on MCAs, staff and other service providers.
Mr. Situma advised the affected MCAs and staff members to self-isolate and follow the Ministry of Health guidelines with regard to management of the disease.
“The wider County Assembly of Bungoma fraternity is equally urged to self-isolate in the interest of the wider public,” read the Speaker’s statement.
“The general public is advised to continue following all Ministry of health protocols towards combating the spread of COVID-19.”
This comes after Mombasa County Assembly on Tuesday suspended sittings for two weeks after four members and three staffers tested positive for COVID-19. Uasin Gishu county assembly too had suspended its sitting after Huruma Ward MCA Hon Chomba died of covid 19.
