“Women will form an intergral part of my government” says Ngatia as he joins women in celebrating intl womens day

Ngatia joins women in marking Intl women’s day

Nairobi, 8th March, 2022

: Nairobi Gubernatorial front runner the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) president Richard Ngatia today joined hundreds of women in celebrating the International Women’s day at the Mary Faith Children Centre in Dagoretti south.

The women, brought together under the banner Wamama Mashinani Na Ngatia, committed to support the candidature of Ngatia at the August 9th, 2022 general election.

Led by former Kasarani Member of parliament Elizabeth Ongoro and Nairobi County County Executive Committee member (CECM) for education, gender, youth and sports Muthoni Ouko, the women said that by the fact that Ngatia had chosen to celebrate International Women’s day with women in the slim areas is evidence that he is the gubernatorial candidate who has interests of the women across all classes in the social ladder at his heart.
Ngatia said that he will work towards empowerment of women once elected to head the county executive.

“Today I want to celebrate all women and I have chosen to celebrate here in Dagoretti. I will be foremost in empowering women once we get to office,” Ngatia said.

Nairobi CECM Muthoni Ouko thanked Ngatia for his humility in leading the women leaders in celebrating the day with the girl child.


I want to thank Ngatia and all of you who are here to celebrate this day with these great ladies at the centre. I t shows the commitment and trust that you have in women and this is testament that once elected to office, you will have the best interest of women at heart,Ouko said.


The educationalist has declared her interest to run for the Kasarani Member of Parliamant seat. Ouko will face off with incumbent Hon Mercy Gakuya and Sportpesa CEO Ronald Karauri.

Ongoro, herself a former area MP, before the constituency was split into Kasarani and Roysambu, is contesting for the position of Women representative but has indicated to close allies and confidants of her intention to support Nominated Senator Beatrice Kwamboka for the seat.
