Richard Ngatia fit for the county’s top job Former Mayor Joe Aketch says.

Former Nairobi Mayor Joe Aketch has endorsed the candidature of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) president Richard Ngatia as Kenya’s capital city Governor.

Aketch made the endorsement during the Jubilee Party National Governing Council (NGC) attended by Ngatia at the Kenyatta National International Convention Centre in Nairobi on Friday, February 25th, 2022.

Aketch said having led Nairobi from his experience felt that Ngatia had the potential to develop the city and restore its lost past glory compared to the other candidates that have expressed their interests in the gubernatorial race.

“Ngatia is an accomplished businessman with experienced with has vast network both locally and international basing on the posts he holds in Kenya and in the African region that can open investment and job opportunities for Kenyans in boosting the country’s economy,” said Aketch.

The former Mayor said Ngatia is the favourite candidate to be Jubilee’s candidate for the Azimio la Umoja alliance nominations ticket.

As the Jubilee Party in Nairobi feel that Ngatia will be our flag bearer in the Azimio la Umoja alliance nominations and we are sure that Ngatia is sellable to the other coalition partners to be granted the ticket to run for the Nairobi governorship,” said Aketch.

Ngatia is expected to battle Westlands Member of Parliament (MP) Tim Wanyonyi of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party for the Azimio ticket.

Nairobi Governor Ann Kananu and businesswoman Agnes Kagure are also in the race also fighting for the Azimio ticket.

Others in the race are former Housing assistant minister Bishop Margaret Wanjiru of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) associated by the Deputy President (DP) William Ruto and Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja of ex Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi’s Amani Congress (ANC) where they will both fight for the Kenya Kwanza alliance ticket.

In the past two opinion polls, Ngatia has led ahead of Sakaja and Bishop Wanjiru in second and third place respectively.
